WG Vrox
This is a topic that was brought up back when our codex first came out and I am wondering if there has been any insight since. When a Wolf Guard unit takes a dedicated transport and then the WG unit is dissolved due to dispersion of the WG pack to lead other units, can the last WG keep the dedicated transport? If that is the case and since the WG becomes a full member of the new pack, could the WG and the GH squad be deployed onto the table embarked in the dedicated transport? stinkenheim
no. it was purchased for the WG pack. If any of that pack are together after members have been seperated then they can begin embarked in it. any other WG hat are leading a different pack (GHs in your example) need to start the game out of the transport and move into it in turn 1. basically if you have a WG and 9 GHs, it isnt the WG pack its still a GH pack. As you sy it was discussed when the dex was released and theres be no mention in an FAQ about letting other units start in it. Marek Grimfang
So if I have 10 WG, 7 of which are in Terminator Armour, and three are in Power Armour.......the three are affixed to GH packs.....and I purchase a Rhino. Obviously the Terminators cannot ride in it, but one of the WG/GH packs can, but must embark after turn 1. Sort of how I see it. stinkenheim
yep, although you could just purchase the rhino for a grey hunter squad and then they could start inside... GH+WG does not equal WG pack sadly. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203771-wolf-guard-and-dedicated-transports/#findComment-2429636 Share on other sites
Xeenos
I was thinking of doing this for my Land Raider, having the 3 WG i use buy it as a dedicated, then start the game with it like.. sideways and a GH pack behind it. Turn one load up and drive like normal. Then you can have 3 vindicators! Or Long fang packs. Really the LR is only an issue if it comes to you using all three of your heavy supports slots and you still want a LR, you can fudge it in. That is certainly the concept I would going toward, filling my Heavy slots with low costing effective units while ramming a hard hitting AV 14 transport down the throat of my enemy. In my case it is a Vindi, a Long Fang pack and either a second vindi or a WW. The only down side is you can not start in reserve with such a unit. At times especially during a Spear Head mission I like to put a GH unit in reserve in order to come in at the flanks of my enemy.
