faol
Ok so while I was reading some Iron Hands stuff over again the Iron father acts a techmarine as well as a chaplain. So thinking how fesable is it to convert a either a chaplain or techmarine to represent this? Durus
Looking at the old model I would say the best place to start is one of the classic techmarines (link1 link2). Cassius with a set of new arms and a new backpack might look good as well. glayvin34
Sometimes things just sound better in other languages, and German is no exception. Eisenvater. Awesome. In fact, just as awesome as "Los Lobos Espaciales". Anyway, I agree with Durus, you're better off starting with Techmarine and adding some Chaplain, they don't even appear to have skull helmets. The primary badge of office for the Chaplain is his Crosius, so you probably want to focus on making that as obvious as possible, then have the rest of the model be Techmarine. There's couple of bits on the command squad sprue that work well as the business end of a crosius, check out the sprue picture collection at the top of the General PCA Question topics. Brother Tyler
The Iron-Father is equipped with neither the crozius arcanum nor the rosarius, though. What the Iron-Father had was a power weapon and a protective force field called the mechanicus protectiva. In rules aspects, it was identical to a rosarius. The blending of Techmarine and Chaplain in the Iron-Father is more in line with their role. You can find a discussion on the Iron-Father here. It's worth noting that the "end product" is a synthesis of various opinions, so take it with a grain of salt. You can see an image of the Iron-Father model that Games Workshop used to produce at: http://kofler.dot.at/40k/units/Iron_Hand_Iron_Father.gif (I just realized that it's also linked above :verymad: ) My suggestion is to use a Techmarine model. You don't even need to do anything special to a Techmarine model in order to make it represent the Iron-Father. However, much of this really depends on what rules you are using (since there are no longer official Iron Hands rules that include the Iron-Father). If you're using the Techmarine/Master of the Forge rules for your Iron-Father, then a Techmarine mini is appropriate. If, on the other hand, you're using the Chaplain rules for your Iron-Father, then you might find it easier to use a Chaplain model with appropriately "techy" bits and painting. Overall, though, when approaching this from a fluff perspective, using the Techmarine model would be most appropriate, and you could simply be clear to indicate what rules the mini follows to your opponent. Bannus
If you are going with the MotF to represent your Iron-Father, then I would recommend one of the newer Techmarine minis w/servo-harness. Because the MotF is equipped with one as standard. The mail-order Techmarine does have a "leader" quality about him - this is the one i use for my primary Iron-Father.
