Skalver
Just a question on Spearhead. Am I correct in reading that if I wanted to take a Mechanised Assault Spearhead with 3 Razorback Assault Squads the only option is to buy the 3 razorbacks at full cost, then buy 3 assault squads and just remove their jump packs. In effect you lose the 35 point dedicated transport discount since spearhead vehicles must be purchased first as Heavy Support choices and then you choose infantry units to go in them. So baseline 3 units of 5 assault marines with razorbacks would be 120 points each. In a mechanised assault spearhead it would be 155 points each plus the extra cost for the spearhead. Is this correct? You don't get the 35 point discount because you are choosing the squad to go in the transport as opposed to choosing the transport for the squad. TheyKilledOffTycho?
While I think you are technically correct, any reasonable opponent in a friendly game would surely allow the discount. After all, Codexes don't follow a system of buying a dedicated transport vehicle without first buying a squad so I would say that the logic behind Spearhead would supersede the RAW in the Codex. It's a supplement to the game and as such will require that the players come up with compromises based on any inconsistencies. DV8
By RAW that would be correct, although you could try and house-rule it with the people you play with.
