Where/ how do you get non-inclusive bitz?

I’ve been building my first ever Warhammer army (and of course it’s Space Wolves :) ), I’ve been magnetizing my wolves so that I have all options available. However as you will well know you don’t get a good bit of the stuff and I was wondering if you guys know what the best places are to get hold of them. I’m not referring to bitz sites or eBay (though if you know of a good bitz site feel free to say) but more to other packs that may contain items of use such as a regular tactical marine box that could contain weapons as well as marines that can be converted. I’m afraid I don’t know the contents of other boxes so I am unable to judge for myself.

So far what I’ve noticed missing:

Power Armour weapons:

Meltagun (easy to resolve with GW blister)

Flamer

Combi-melta

Combi-flamer

Combi-plasma

Terminator Armour weapons:

Cyclone missile launcher

Combi-melta

Combi-flamer

Combi-plasma

There are probably others for Dread's and such that I don't know about but in summery my question is are bitz sites the only way to go or is there a better way?

Jonny

Requiem is right - eBay is the best source I've found to get hold of stuff. Unfortunately, the combi-meltas are very much in high demand so you'll need to be lucky to get your hands on any. Combi-plasma is easily available.

If you're not going to convert or use bitz sites or ebay then you're going to need loads of cash to source this stuff!

  • For combi-melta or combi-plasma you need to get the space marine commander kit - it will give you one of each. I also believe that the Sternguard box comes with one?
  • Combi-flamers do not exist as far as loyalists are concerned. You'll have to go chaos and use the Chaos Terminator one.
  • Cyclone Missile launchers can be got from the standard terminator squad.
  • The old SW sprue will give you a power sword, power axe and meltagun.
  • the basic tactical marine box or the command squad set will net you a melta gun, flamer and a non-wolfy power sword.

That will get you started and I'm sure that others will be along to chip in any other sources that I've missed.

I have mentioned this before but I buy one SW box and one SM tactical box everytime.

This gives me one squad with dual melta and one squad with either dual flamer or dual plasma. Plus I get a missile launcher for my Long Fangs.

The SW box was meant to be combined, might as well go with the flow.

For one off bitz, I use the Warstore Battlewagon Bitz.

Hoard O Bits is another good bit seller. Also for Combi-weapons I recommend just getting the normal special weapons and converting them,it doesn't take that much.

I've made Cyclone Missile Launcher from the Typhoon Missile Launcher bits from Land Speeder box. Meltas from old SW sprue and tactical marines upgrade sprue. Flamer - the same. Combimeltas are conversions from multimelta (Devastator box) or spare meltaguns (just cut the barrel and attach it to bolter). Combiplasma is even easier since it can be made from plasmapistols and bolters. TDA combiweapons - I've traded some from Chaos players.

For Melta, Plasma, and Flamers... Black Templars upgrade kit has all of those. Though, GW does sell a 5 pack of metal Melta guns through Direct Services/website. The old SW sprue (also direct services/website thing) has a melta gun on it.

Combi-Melta and Combi-Plasma.... Space Marine Commander box. There is a Sternguard Blister that has a combi-plasma and a combi-melta (count-as flamer)

Combi-Flamer... Chaos Space Marine Terminator

Cyclone Missile Launcher... Space Marine Terminator box (not assault), convert Typhoon Missile Launchers, convert Drop Pod Deathwind Missile Launchers

Combi-melta are nigh impossible to buy from the internet bits stores. They are the first thing to go - and fast. I managed to buy two on my fourth attempt.....barely. As stated above I would go for building your own, since meltaguns are moreaccessabile. Here is a great link to a member building a White Scars army who has done a great job in building his own combi-meltas:

Enjoy.

A good way to check for bitz is the Sprue-photo thread here at the B+C, where you can check out whats in just about any kit they make. Often its cheaper to buy a whole kit if you need more than a small handful of the bitz out of it.

i convert my combi-plasmas and flamers, havent made any meltas yet. i was/seriously pissed at GW for takign away our plastic melta guns...

here on B&C we got some good links to converting them, its where i got my ideas from: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...showarticle=402

Personally, I'm pissed off at GW for two things:

Lack of Meltaguns unless you buy the web only upgrade sprue.

Difficulty of getting my hands on Missile Launchers. You get one in the Devastator box...one in the Tactical box. Please GW continue to package your products in a way thats anathema to how your game works. Therefore, funneling revenue from your coffers to overcharging bitz sites. Its good stuff. The sad part is that I had one in each of my codex tac squads, but I sold them along with the army.

I ordered them through my local store and waited 3 weeks, and then they told the store that they were out.

Power armor -

Meltaguns are sold in bitz packs from GW, and I believe they're in the tactical marines box too.

There a combi-melta, and a combi-plasma, in the commander box.

A flamer can be found in the tactical box, and the AoBR game/box set.

There are no combi-flamers pre-made, but are easy to build yourself.

Terminator armor -

The cyclone missile launcher can be found in the terminator box ( not the assault one ).

There are no pre-made combi-weapons for SM terminators. There are some in the CSM terminator box, and the chaos lord box, but some work needs to be done to pass being SM weapons.

Hope I helped.
