daemon*hunter
What is the difference between the normal Forge World Baneblades, and the Arkurion Pattern ones? (Other then £55) Also, What's the size difference between FW BaneBlades, and GW ones? Korloth Darkwolf
I was under the impression that the FW baneblade kits all used the normal plastic GW chassis. I have yet to purchase a FW baneblade so may be wrong on this. EDIT: just had a quick look on the FW site and some of them are full resin kits while others are resin/plastic mix. I imagine the mixed kits use the GW baneblade. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204011-baneblades/#findComment-2432303 Share on other sites
SquigBait
Initially the Baneblade was printed as a pattern in one of the early White Dwarf publications for people to make their own back when Games Workshop actually encouraged people to make their own models. A little later kits were produced by a company called armorcast. They produced 2 versions, a basic version and a 'super detailed' version with pewter hatches and detail bits. They also produced a drop in hull section to model the shadowsword. I happen to have one of the super detailed ones with the pewter bits. The Armorcast ones run about 10 or 15% smaller than their Forgeworld counterparts and are pretty much a solid brick of resin. Armorcast lost their license to produce the specialty Games Workshop models when GW decided to found an in-house casting company for their specialty models. The first Baneblade models from Forgeworld inclusing a couple of different patterns, again varying in the amount of detail (Mars pattern being a bit more streamlined and the Lucious pattern having a lot more rivets and other details). More recently GW released the plastic version of the kit to much fanfare and celebration to modelers around as the plastic kit is drastically reduced in price verses the full resin kit. Taking advantage of the new plastic hull now available, the Arkurian pattern series of kits were released using primarily the new plastic Stormlord chassis and whatnot from the plastic kit and using resin to make the different pieces that they have decided not to produce in plastic. Also, the Arkurion pattern Baneblade is not technically available from Forgeworld, that would be the full plastic kit put out by GW, the Arkurion series of tanks being the ones without a turret and the massive hull mounted weapon. The Arkurion, Mars, and Lucious patterns are all pretty much identical in size. Anything else you would like to know? WHat can I say, I am a treadhead through and through... SquigBait
Glad I could help. I guess it shows that I have been knocking around with 40k for a while... Back when Cadians were all metal still!
