Darkchild130
As suggests in the thread title, i was wondering what would happen if somehow the Eversor was cut off from his ship/retrieval systems and was left on a mission without any chance of resupply. What would happen when his combat drugs ran out? Would he go through a period of cold turkey, teetering on the brink of death until he got over it? Would he die instantly, exploding as if killed? Or would his systems just flush out and make him an 'ordinary' assassin? I have an idea for a story, I need a viable reason for an Eversor to run amok of his own accord, punishing whatever he deems as heresy. EDIT: I own both editions of Codex: Assassins, Daemonhunters and Witch hunters. I know the Fluff says they need the drugs to survive, but people can be weaned off of all kinds of drugs, so i wonder if it can be done with an Eversor. Inquisitor =D=
Hmm... Sure is an interesting storie to me. Well having been conditioned while On stimms his entire life chances are cold-turkey is not an option. However given the right chances he could raid his enemy's supplys to supplement his own. And then you've got all the psycological side-effects of using alternate and possibly xenos stimms. We know he fully expected to die on whatever mission he embarks on but if the mission is not complete he might be driven enough to do it. Oohh... I like this story already. What would happen if his masters at the Ordos assume he fails and sends another in? That could be one absolutey pulse-racing fight! Do It! =]D[= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204014-fluff-question-regarding-eversors/#findComment-2432652 Share on other sites
Darkchild130
well, working on a real life angle, you could wean him off the drugs with cocktails of similar, less lethal drugs over a period of time, which would leave you with a bionically and genetically enhanced killing machine with all the physical abilities of an Eversor, able to strategize and blend in with humans (unlike our beloved Space marines). The challenge is incorporating that into fluff without it feeling forced. I was thinking of possibly making him be captured and messed around with by Dark Eldar, all the while fighitng in their arenas between experiments. But if anyone has any other ideas i'd appreciate it. Panzerkopf
I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened to an Eversor, so they're probably trained to conserve their combat drugs to the extent that they won't need them anymore. Sounds completely viable to me! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204014-fluff-question-regarding-eversors/#findComment-2433218 Share on other sites
Darkchild130
that's what i thought, though the GW fluff says they will die if their drugs run out, it seems odd that the most highly trained killer imaginable would not be able to adapt to this (quite probable, considering the missions they conduct) eventuality. I might have to go the route of him being 'modified' by his captors, with the Dark Eldar's higher grasp of technology replacing all his hypodermic systems with some vat grown glands. This way he will be able to constantly produce survivable amounts of the relevant compounds, but modulate it to retain some semblance of sanity. This would leave him with some inner turmoil (being tainted by deviant hands) and with his amplified awareness of things, he might struggle to comprehend his reality. Though his lobo chips would still be forcing him to hate everything and serve the emperor to the death. I just think that a stable eversor is a good character for a story, getting him there in a decent fashion is a bit problematic though! Darkchild130
Just read 2nd edition Codex: Assassins. turns out the combat drugs are glanded anyway, not injected, so my initial problem is moot. My story is go! As soon as the Flesh Tearers are done i will get started.
