yanlou
this is my DIY space marine chapter, ill apologise in advance if some of it doesnt make sense, is abit far fetched or theres to much missing info, this is my first time coming up with a chapter back ground Steel Wolves bit of background, The Steel Wolves are a successor chapter of the Iron Hands(edited), who are currently fleet based and recruit from a number of worlds in segmentum tempestus sector(edit) The chapter has an affinity towards the machine, the chapters members are mostly marines who spent most of there time as tank crewman and have gained experince in maintaining such tanks. Captains in this chapter are either Veterens of armoured warfare or Techmarines(edit), even the single Dreadnought in the chpater has had experince in such things and was once a Techmarine(edit). The Current Chapter Master was a Senior Techmarine (edit) in the Iron Hands Chapter(edit), even the chaplians and librarians have an affinity towards the machine and have each experinced armoured warfare. The Steel Wolves have a large amount of armour and transports and as such they are a highly mechinised force, their predators and vindicators are used to distract enemys, distrupt formations and destory important targets and a such always go up the centre usually exposing themselves to the heaviest fire but because of the skill and experience they usually exit the battle unscathed only a few are lost but are later recovered, while the heavy armour is doing its job the transports rhino and razorbacks are outflanking the enemy and dropping troops into the blind spots of the enemy formations, landraiders are also included as they can also bring any heavy firepower if needed, the combination speed, shock tactics and concentrated heavy fire power have left many enemys completly decimated. This kind of warfare wouldnt have been possible if it wasnt for the mechanicum and the agreement between the Chapter Master and head of the Mechanicum, the agreement states that in exchange for the production of tanks and the training of Techamrines, the Steel wolves must leave a permenant garrsion at one of the mechanicum forgeworlds (havent decided where yet), must respond to any threat against any forgeword and must also provide Techmarines with armoured warfare experience to train skittari tank crewman. The Chapter has had a slightly unlucky start, while enroute to help defend a mechanicum outpost and defeat an ork threat, the Steel Wolves had entered the system from the warp were the mechanicum outpost was located, they were then ambushed and disabled before any of the systems where able to restart from the effects of exiting the warp, the ambushers were from the Red Corsairs, with no way to raise the void shields or return fire the Steel wolves battlebarge was boarded and as they were only small in number at the time they were soon overrun by the Red Corsairs. The Steel Wolves had somehow managed to send a distress call detailing what happen while the attack was happening just before the bridge was taken, which luckliy was intercepted by a Space Wolves (edit) flotilla which coincidently were also answering the called from the mechanicum outpost. Answering that call the Space Wolves translated in system just behind the Red Corsair Ship, knowing what to expect the Space Wolves fired as fast as they could and disabled the enemy ship, they then teleported and boarded the Steel Wolves battlebarge in the nick of time as the Steel Wolves were nearly decimated only a matter of 50 marines were left, pushed back to the Apothocarion where they protected their injured brothers, totally surrounded, just as the enemy was about to commence their final attack the Space Wolves had teleported in behind the attackers, the attackers were caught unprepared, confused by the sudden appearance of terminators they didnt know which way to turn, attack the remaining Steel Wolves or engage the new threat, but it was to late and in their confusion the Steel Wolves pressed the advantage caught between the Iron Hands and the Steel Wolves the enemy was defeated. The Red Corsairs knowing they couldnt win escaped back into the warp. Because of the Space Wolves Swift aid the Steel Wolves were saved from destruction and in honour of the service of the Space Wolves the Steel Wolves painted most of their armour steel to closely represent the space wolves own colour and adopted the traditions of the Space Wolves including such things as markings, talismens, chapter organisation and other such things(edit) Founding Chapter: Iron Hands Founding: 940.M40 Chapter Master: Hrolf Volundr Homeworld: Fleet Based Fortress-Monastery: ferrum Lupus Speciality: Mechanised Assault Battle cry: Unknown Estimated Strength: 750 Marines http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p258/yanlou/Warhammer%2040k/IronWolves1.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p258/yanlou/Warhammer%2040k/IronWolves-1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204048-steel-wovles-diy-chapter/ Share on other sites
manofmanynames
It sounds good, but there are a few things that you might want to change. First thing is that the space wolves can't have any successors because of a flaw in the Space Wolf gene seep. You could change the gene seed to Iron Hands, that would help explain their love for the machine, and thier deal with the AM. Also I don't think having them be a Space Wolf successor added anything to them. If you really want to have the Space Wolves to influence your chapter have space wolves save you from the Red Corsairs, and watch over and guide/help your chapter while they were rebuilding. Second thing is space marines don't like to share homeworlds. So instead of having them share homes with the Space Wolves just give them a homeworld close to the forgeworld they are protecting. You could try making the forgeworld their homeworld aswell, but I don't really know how to pull that off. Mabye have lots of hives where the workers live in, and recruit from the gangs of the hives. Having a homeworld close to the forgeworld could also help explain the large number of tanks they have. Thats all I can find. Good luck with your chapter, hope this helped.
