Rejoice Wolves

I found this little gem on Heresy Online from Chris Wraight

So, what’s next? Well, time to break cover. It’s 40K for me. Space Marine Battles, to be exact; my first novel-length treatment for the Astartes. Gotta say, it’s a pretty daunting prospect. We’re talking the first Battle of the Fang. That’s a whole lot of M32 goodness, a fleet of angry Thousand Sons, a mountain-full of bestial semi-tame Fenrisians, a Great Company of Wolves, a primarch, and a certain very long-lived Dreadnought.

Glad to here it's coming out. We're going to have to wait a while though. The fifth in the series, The Fall of Damnos, is expected in April 2011, so I figure this will be at the end of 2011 or sometime early 2012. Seeing as the world should end on the 21st of Dec 2012, that should give us Wolves enough time to enjoy a good read before the Wolftime is finally upon us!

No mate. They are all stand alone.

Edit: As content as I am that they are visiting this era (M32), which also makes for a sequel of sorts for A thousand Sons & Prospero Burns, I'd have preferred they did a Battles Book on the 1st War of Armageddon. It is by far my favourite SW campaign, but that's just my opinion.

As it is, Im playing the waiting game... its one of my favorite 'historical' battles. I hope it doesnt come off as a J. Swallow bloodangel debut.

Don't say that, don't jinx it! :)

I'm in the waiting game as well, I want to see how this turns out and look forward to finding out but I'm not about to get my hopes up too soon.

Anyway, it is a fairly old battle compared to the others covered in the Space Marine Battles series so far, I was hoping for something more recent. The 1st War for Armageddon would have been awesome, but I guess we shall see how this one does.

this should be AWESOME! i love all the stories containing the Wolves of Russ, or the Thousand Sons (each being my favorite of their faction). While i often catch crap from fellow Wolves players for liking the Thousand Sons, i am force to explain why i enjoy the Thousand Sons: because their the only chaos faction that are able to go toe to toe with the Space Wolves, quite a feat in my mind. Since i consider the Space Wolves the greatest of all Space Marines, this must also make the Thousand Sons the best of the traitors. So it'll be an interesting book to read about the greatest battle between the two groups representing the best of the best.

Not much to add to that discussion at the moment. I'll blog about it some more once BL's announced the project and there's something to say.

Yup, that sounds plausible. I don't know what the release date will be. It's being written right now, though, and I'm going as quick as I can ;)

Yes, they're all standalone stories. The M32 gig is indeed unusual - BL had a clear idea about what they wanted for this one, though, and it's an interesting challenge. I'd be amazed if the 1st Battle of Armageddon didn't get done at some point, though there are a fair few Chapters (and authors) who'd want to be in on that one...

Look like those guys in that board dont know the story and think pups is going to get a wipping and also think we ve only won because of Bjorn..........think someone should go lecture a history lesson XD

The plot structure for BotF is taken straight from the published background (Index Astartes, etc.), so, as far as is possible, there won't be any deviations from the canon here. Of course, I do have a few ideas for cool stuff that aren't in the public domain yet... :)

That book sounds good to me; Thousand Sons, Daemon Primarchs, Bjorn the Fell Handed and desperate defence.

Plus this battle might lead to a Battle of Macragge (Battle of the Fang, get it?).

@ Chris Wraight: Thank you for your blog's part on getting published. I am a budding author myself and the tips help me keep focussed with a plan etc. If you don't mind me asking, how many attempts did you have at getting published/accepted for commission?

Well actually, they are not the greatest. They are just the worst learners and always come back after they get their ...urm... backparts handed to them, finely chopped with frostblades and pre-chewed by thunderwolves. You could almost say that Magnus is a masochist who enjoys being smacked, broken, humiliated and stabbed in the eye over and over again.

I'm so looking forward to see the big ol' Bjorn's claw smash the red fellow to the ground.

Actually Magnus and Bjorn never fought. The only person that Magnus fought was the Great Wolf.
