My Wolves Tabled Their First Opponent

Allways a fun experience. Last night out of 4 opponents in a tournament,I tabled the Tyrannid and Necron opponent (The Tyrannid player was the guy I played my first nid game against, and he had scared the hell out of me last time with like almost 50 gaunts coming out of his Tervigon, this time around he only managed 5 and his Ymgarl GS didnt come into the game from reserves until the rest of his army was dead) The Chaos Marine opponent I didn't table,he only had his Defiler left, stuck in hth with my TW Lord. And the IG got ahold of a Manticore and well...that just sucked for my grey hunters, and then a series of botched rolls killed my tw lord...

Ah, sound like this could be good!

*Grabs tankard of mead, haunch of roast beef, sits back by the fire and waits for the tale...BELCH!*

Well, come on man, we haven't got all night!

Oh, and congratulations! Nothing like showing those traitorous swine who runs the show.

Well done Brother! But we want more of this tale!

Alright, I'll try my hand at a story.

It was warm. Warm enough to make the old Wolf Lord miss the chill of Asaheim. The thunderwolf beneath him sweat heavily. It's fur changing from a blessing to a curse with each second as the temperature rose. One of his grey clad warriors approach.

"Ashwolf, the meeting between Abaddon and Khârn has begun. Khârn is proceeding as expect, with his axe swinging," he said with a practiced tone of respect.

"Our pray is distracted, and we are down wind. What more could a wolf ask for?" he said with a ravenous smile, bearing his fangs. His canine steed growled, as if in agreement. The other warrior began relaying the Ashwolf's message.

Rune Priest Reilik graciously offered to keep a small contingent back to protect their forward command installation that amounted to little more than a makeshift bunker. Ashwolf agreed, "More for me, then." He met up with his fellow riders, followed by his pack of Fenrisian wolves.

Ashwolf gave the command and the long fangs began their bombardment as the he and his cavalry, along with their beast companions, advanced on the enemy. The grey hunters' rhino moved to provide cover for their lord. As they advanced, Reilik cautioned that Khârn and several hostiles were moving on the bunker. Ashwolf cursed. He had hoped to meet Khârn in battle. Instead, Ashwolf sent the other rhino back to take up defensive positions around the bunker.

As they marched forward, noise marines bombarded the long fangs, and the old stubborn sages responded with plasma cannon fire after they pounded the defiler into lifelessness.

It was at this point that Ashwolf sighted his prey. As Abaddon tore through the rhino, the grey hunters it housed piled out and gave a wide birth. Ashwolf bellowed a challenge to the murderous traitor as he charge. Abaddon stood defiant against the charging wolves receiving them with malice, though he could not withstand every attack. The riders and their mounts lashed out at the chaos touched menace from every angle. He landed several would be killing blows against the riders, but they rang hard against storm shields. Abaddon reached out with daemonic weapon and split one rider and his wolf in one swing. Ashwolf, full of rage brought down his thunder hammer, and felled the traitorous swine.

Almost simultaneously, some of the long fangs welcomed Khârn to the battle with a volley of lascannon fire. He did not get up.

Filled with a sense of triumph, Ashwolf and his riders cleared the way to the enemy base, their howls cutting the wind like the claws of a wolf. Meanwhile, Reilik used the rhinos to impede the charge Khorne's followers, eventually butchering the remainder of the enemy.

Surveying the field, Ashwolf praised Russ and the Allfather for their blessings on this day of battle. He turned to his brothers and said, "Today we shattered the head of the snake! We have all earned our honored resting places, and we have earned our mead tonight! Let us drink to the fallen." He let out a fierce howl in their honor. His marines answered back.

A good story, but it illustrates why people shouldn't use named characters overmuch. Abbadon and Khârn turning up in a small game and then getting killed.

I think the tale was well told, brother!

After all it was probably the chaos scum he played that fielded Abbadon and Khârn in his army, anyway! Caleb was just trying to be accurate in his description! :D

Have an ale, Brother Caleb!
