The Angel Guard

Origins

The Angel Guard, decended from the Roboute Guilliman Ultramarine Geneseed, came about in the Third Founding, they where created to act as Guardians to whomever called apon them. Castiel was chosen to lead them, taken from the Ultramarine ranks, installed Chapter Master of the Angel Guard. After the fouding of the Angel Guard, Castiel took the origional members to find a home world, and set up a base of opperations. The Angel Guard, where made to act as protectors, assisst in huge battles, and keep look out in the region of the Galaxy known as The Sagmentum Tempestus. Castiel went about setting up a large force, to carry out the duties bestowed upon him and his Angel Guard.

Home World
Castiel
Castiel, was chosen to lead the Angel Guard, although he may not follow the ways of most chapter masters, or even the way of his chapter, he is a fierce fighter. Often jumping into battles on his own, using speed to supprise the enemy from behind its ranks. Castiel only allows the most skilled fighters to go to battle with him, the elite forces are often fronted by Terminators, in their prized Land Raiders. Castial often joins in battles on his own, attacking the enemy with no warning, he has no fear of death or danger, he is only after glory, for himself and for his chapter.

Castiel, set up the Angel Guard in the Sagmentum Tempestus, on a reliavly small planet. Training begun, a large fortress was erected, all was working for Castiel. The planet known as Cealum, became very efficiant, and the Angel Guard's numbers increased, Castiel lead the 1st company in to battle, assisting the Ultramarines in small conquests to begin with, but soon the Home world came under threat. A unexpected tyranid invasion, destroyed most of the Home World of the Angel Guard, something that should not have happened, if they had been watching the galaxy as they should have been. The Tyranid Invasion, led by an unkown Hive Fleet, destoryed most of the population, and after the Angel Guard, with the help of the Dark Angels, and Ultramarines, faught off the Tyranids, the re-building process begun. Castiel took a different approach to his Company this time, keeping the forces small, but elite. Castiel himslef, searched for Marines, to fit his idea. Cealum, started to build up again, but instead of being hugely populated, it was kept down, outposts for scouting the Galaxy surrounding them where set up all around the planet, and the training process begun again.

The Forces

The Angel Guard, now works in three Companys. Castiel leads the first company, with Librarian Paschar, Captain Rashnu and Chaplain Israfil, the first company, was always lead out by Castiel, and is most commonley used, when the Angel Guard are called upon. The first Company, has a high number, a request of Castiel, who wanted a small but elite force, backing up the Terminator spearhead of the first company, is a number of Tactical Marines, Scouts, and a few support vehicles. Castiels own personaly Body guards, are a squad of Assault Marines, but often he prefers to enter battle solo. The Second Company of the Angel Guard, is a more troop based company, with Devastators, lots of Scouts and Tactical Marines, it is the company who are most responsibe for the job of scouting out the Galaxy for any approaching enemys, to keep their's and any nearby allies Home World safe. The Third company of the Angel Guard, has little known about it, it Is thought to be a heavily mechanised company, but there are no comfirmed reports of it ever being out in battle.

The Terminator

The Angel Guard, has a high proportion of Terminators, all thiry of which, are part of the first company. Castiel, despite himself, not wearing Terminator army, has a great admiration for anyone deemed worth of wearing the armour. The only known reasons for the high number of Terminators, is Castiel's preference towards them, and the goal of keeping the Angel Guard, particually the first company small and elite. The Terminators of the Angel Guard, all bear a Thunder Hammer, and Storm Sheild, and always ride in Land Raiders, unless a mass assault calls for a Thuderhawk deployment. Each Terminator has an induvidual marking, either on his left shin. The Land Raiders the terminators ride in are as highly respected as the Terminators themselves, and if any damage is put upon them, the techmarines on Cealum, work them selves to the point of death to repair the precious land Raiders.

Ways in War

The Terminators assault, is the main tactic used by the Angel Guard when fighting the enemy, but like any Space Marine chapter, they appriciate the improtance of Fire support. The Tactical Marines, although still skilling in combat, focus on ranged fire more, in support of the Terminators. The Second company, which is mainly defensive now, is all about fire Power, it contrasts the assault oriantated first company. Although the Angel Guard may go largley unoticed by most around, when on the battlefield, they certainly don't. In terms of weaponary, the Angel Guard, apart from the Terminator Thunder Hammers, have no particular preferance, they use general wargear, from the bolt pistol, to Lascannons. Speed is of the essence for all Angel Guard warriors, and when trying to get to combat, often shooting is disregarded by the front lines, in lieu of a quicker impact.

Allies

As decendants of the Ultramarine geneseed, the Angel Guard, will do anything to fight for or alongside the Ultramarines, this is a pact that was arranged with Castiel, himself an Ultramarine origionally, to be kept with the Angel Guard for the whole of their existance. Along with the alliance with the Ultramarines, the Dark Angels are held in high estime by the AngelGuard, mainly because of the assistance from them, during the invasion of Cealum. The Angel Guard, have been called apon, but other Space Marine chapters, but the only one they have rufused to assisst is the Space Wolves, Castiel despises their inferior geneseed, and would sooner kill a Space Wolf, than fight alongside one.

Armour

The Angel Guard, origionally wore Blue armour, in homage to their Ultramarine heritage, but soon, that was changed. Castiel took a personal liking to a White and Green pattern he saw. So from now all Angel Guard, have white and green armour, and also a personaly liking for Gold, from Castiel, lead other parts of the armour being made up of gold, or at least coloured that way.

I will be adding more hopefully soon, maybe not for a while....but Any advice on what i'm doing right/wrong, and how i can bulk it out a bit (i have read the guides....)

I want to try and make some fictional battle reports, stories of rivalries etc added in at some point as well.....

(oh also, one question, is there any specific kind of number/set up that should be in a company? because i had a rough idea for my first company, but seemed like quite a lot....)

Just one or two comments to make really. Why was your Chapter formed. Usually there is some reason for their creation?

Was Castiel brought in from the Ultras?

Space Marines are the ultimate warriors. They are ALL very good at what they do. You do not have to keep 'beefing' your marines up by saying they are all heros and fight like heros, elites etc. Just let your marines be marines; people on here don't like writers who try to make their marines out to be much better than everyone else! :tu:

Also, you stress the use of Terminators, stating that they outnumber Tactical marines (which is highly unlikely); is there a reason for so many Terminators?

Nice colour scheme, but as they are apparently from the Ultras, how about a blue colour scheme.. only a tiny point!!

Yeah, i will try and sort all that stuff out (the Hero thing, its more the inspiration kidna thing, rather than they are heros i suppose, i probably haven't written it very well...)

I'm working on some stuff now, will try and improve it :tu:

Oh and with your blue point, i want a White and Green, i know Ultramarines are blue, but once i had the idea of white and green, and tried it out, i like it, so want to use that ;)

Oh and BTW, Castiel, will be Counts as Shrike, so my army gets Fleet... (and i quite like Shrike, he does come in and kill things, but wanted to create my own character as well....i will model him myself.....probably :P)

What I have a problem with is that your chapter choose its color scheme because the chapter master liked the colors together. That seems kind of weak to me, I would have it so the colors where Castiels personal heraldry when he was a member of the Ultramarines (I take it he was a captain?).

Ok, i will probably change it to something like that, i am going to go over Castiel again (yes he was a captain, wouldn't really make sense being made a chapter master if your a normal marine  )

I won't do any more tonite (off out soon....) But will try and get more done in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the advice so far

Not a good idea to turn down a request for assistance from fellow marines... especially the Wolves! Despise them or not, they are your brothers. Also, their geneseed is not inferior... it's just slightly different.. oh, and it is not easy to kill a wolf either!!! :)
