which dread to pick

Hey

so i was wondering which dread is the best option?

furioso dread or a death company dread?

to me both cost the same, have the same upgrades, minus the libby upgrade

but the furioso has +1 ws, while the dc has +1 atk, with fleet, furious charge and ignores shaken+stunned

so which one would you pick for a regular game and for spearhead

They in fact don't cost the same in the sense that you MUST buy 5 death company models to unlock one death company dread. In theory making the dread 100pts more expensive. While you don't need extra armour for the Death Co. Dread and it has fleet. I think The furioso is a far better investment. (Especially since you can control it.) Of course you should have a drop pod and extra armour as standard for you Furioso it still is cheaper than the cost require to unlocked and take a death Co. Dread.

However if have already taken or set on including the death company in your list then a Death Co. Dread could be justifiable but then again Death Company marines require some form of transport (or packs) which makes the cost even more expensive.

I'd go for the Furioso since it is more manageable than having the Rage special rule. If you however feel confident in your abilities, feel free to take the DC Dread since that leaves an elite slot open for other nasty stuff.

Yes but when several people at your local store play dark eldar lists featuring 27 dark lances then armour 12 is the best your getting. Also apparently 'Dark Lances' arn't cassified as a 'lance' type weapon the in the DE Codex? Can anyone disprove/verify this for me?

If you are fighting DE especially, there is no need for supa-strength power weapon attacks. Get a heavy support dread and shoot the creeps down. What are you going to do, chase them with your meltaguns? hur hur. BA lists are always short on ranged AT, unless you have some obsession with lazerbacks and regular land raiders. (which are awesome) Riflemen or hellstorms are cheaper than any of those chargy ones.

There was no such thing as a lance type weapon at the time, the lance effect existed only in the weapon description. Remember that the book is like the second codex written in third edition? Yeah, there was no need for that USR-kind of standardization.

My wife plays Dark Eldar and I can confirm, they ARE "Lance" weapons. It's in the weapons description on the wargear pages. Voi hit it dead on.

I prefer the DC dread, provided you can deal with the rage. While a lot of people make an argument for AV 13 on the front, I don't think it's as good as none can stay my wrath, which ignores 33% of pens and 66% of glances.
