meniscusmike
Having been inspired by Koyote and Morticons efforts i've decided to have a go myself. So what do you guys think? I think I still need to bulk up the rear abit (the bit under and around the top rear wings) any suggestions on what I could do? Thanks mic:) http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af241/meniscusmike/SDC10458.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af241/meniscusmike/SDC10459.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af241/meniscusmike/SDC10463.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af241/meniscusmike/SDC10462.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af241/meniscusmike/SDC10461.jpg Because I'm rubbish with computers, you lot have no idea how long its taken me just to upload these photos!!! wookielips
i love the shape and style. a lot. i'd like to see a WIP or tutorial. an idea to bulk up the rear: why not put a large vertical fan or this http://www.lucas-digital.com/images/design/3d/models/image_vtol.jpg towards the back of it. i don't love the static mount on the guns. 2 turrets plz (TLLC on bottom would make for a nice "nose-heavy" feel), and weapon swaps? its missing the TLAzzCan, which makes me sad. :)
Brother_Dan'l
I'd imagine you'd get a lot visually from increasing the size of the rear vertical fins and giving them some sort of swept back look. The two tiny verticals you've got now really throw it off.
Korraz
I like it, a lot. But where's the place for the Cybot?
voi shet magir
It is even a refinement over previous versions. I don't get how it can be sleek and chunky at the same time. awesome.
meniscusmike
Its still a work in progress so I am still trying to find the extra parts to give it bulky swept back rear wings as suggested and the grapples for the dread. I am fast running out of spare parts though :P
wookielips
you can put my double fan idea on the back, then raise the center of the rear end to accommodate a dread torso. it would look awesome. maybe just 3 sheets of polystyrene/plasticard in an upside-down spread out U shape? meniscusmike
I do like the rear fan I guess i just need to give it a go and see.
Frustrashun
Nice. Most of the conversions I've seen are really sharp. I'd like to see a few ideas on weapons mounts for Ravens, and a few ideas on carrying mechanisms for dreads. I've heard of some people who have used magnets to clamp their dreads to the rear of the troop compartment... not sure of how to get the magnet on the dread without it looking terrible though. I really wish someone would give a detailed play-by-play on how they constructed their Storm Raven, or provide pics for a stage-by-stage construction process. I'd really like to try putting one together, but considering I just got into pinning and green-stuffing in my modeling portfolio, I'm a little wary of buying a $60 Valkyrie kit to attempt a conversion. Koyote
Looks good so far. :P I like the use of the Predator ammo hopper hatch on the nose of SR. I may have to steal that idea. I also like the hoses on either side of the forward section of the cockpit. The weapon mounts' lack of symmetry is my only complaint. This is why I went with the chin mounted weapon. The chin mount also gives me a better fire arc. ;) Have you considered putting one las and one mm in each weapon mount? Alternatively, mount your mms like I did and put a single lascannon in each existing weapon mount. How did you extend it? Did you do so with a second Valkyrie kit? Where does the Dreadnought go? What did you do for the rear cabin access point? Please show us a picture of your Stormraven from behind. I sold my first Koyote-Pattern Stormraven and have built a second. This time I took photos during construction. I also traced the plasticard pieces onto a piece of paper in order to make a template for future construction. If I have time I will post a tutorial. Whitefireinferno
Thats interesting I was planning on building a more VTOL style one with the fans instead of wings on the sides since that only comes because I did it to a mates Valk sadly no photos anymore broke the SD card and it has since left my gaming group BUT I am actively looking for a new thing to build the Storm Raven out of. So bear with me it will be done :P.
Frustrashun
Hmm, VTOL style, that'd be interesting. Assuming you can get your hands on enough of them, you could use the exhaust fans from the Vindy kits. May be a bit small but if you cluster several of them that might look good. Just a thought. Whitefireinferno
Nah I was thinking of having LS thrusters on the back and finding some Computer cooling fans and plastiecard like I did to my mates Valk only this time they will rotate :P but Im not too sure how it will look since the hull will be based off a Land Raider since Valks are around $110 bucks in NZ also why I was amazed my mate let me cut his to bits. Morticon
Dude, very very very very nice!!!! Looks so "real". Its a tight conversion so looks like it could be the real thing. Also, excellent use of one kit to make it. :) Well done!

Morticon
Having been inspired by Koyote and Morticons efforts i've decided to have a go myself. I think I still need to bulk up the rear abit (the bit under and around the top rear wings) any suggestions on what I could do? I used the cockpit undercarriage and nose guard at the back of mine to make a dread cradle. It doesnt aaaactually fit the dready, but looks as though it could. However, Take a look at Koyotes- you could easily get that done.
