To me longfangs & pups alike!

Ok so I've just moved and I've decided I need to sort my stuff out including my SWs... and if I'm honest I haven't really played with them much in the new dex as I was a 13th company player :D. Anyway my wolves have all sorts of odd paintjobs and some of them have broken and some were never completed (most have). So I've got few thousand points I think. Rather than split them into 13th company catagories I'll use standard SW names...

I have a wolf lord with a pair of wolf claws, 1 with a frost blade and a plasma pistol (although he isn't that impressive so he could be a wolf guard).

I have Ulric and The gamesday wolfpriest.

I have the bog standard runepriest with the axe

I have bjorn with an assault cannon (although he could just be a normal dread)

I have 14 wolf scouts various special weapons

I have 20 or so wolf guard with various weapons, 5 in TDA.

20 Wulfen

2 units of 15 blood claws

4 units of 10 grey hunters

3 Swiftclaw bikers

4 x Thunder wolves... I use 1 as a WG Battle Leader

30 Wolves

maybe 15 long fangs

Various tanks/transports including my 2nd favourite unit which has now gone from the codex... the Leman Russ tank :'(

Anyway as I'm sorting them all out this gives me a good chance to mess about with weapon load outs, so I would be interested in hearing suggesting for how you equip Blood Claws and Grey Hunters (and how you use them) and also fairly interested if anyone has advice for wolf scouts, Swiftclaws (I may add to this unit unless people think they are useless) and longfangs. Also I may buy some new things so are there any musts that you people would suggest?

Also has anyone got any advice on how to paint the 13th company grey and maybe stripping plastic... I have a way but it makes spray paint undercoats all gunky which is really annoying.

So what say ye brothers?

You need more Rhinos/Razorbacks :D

A good loadout for Grey Hunters is 9 Hunters, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, and a Wolf Guard with Powerfist/Combimelta. This is somewhat of the barebones/best value for points. They are best employed to take the middlefield. Drive up in a Rhino Rapid Fire, get assaulted, counterattack. Or hide in your Rhinos and assault out next turn.

Blood Claws are most effective in large Packs including a Wolf Priest to make the most of their attacks. When i use them they ride in a Crusader and bring stuff down through weight of numbers.

Would you put a wolfguard with the blood claws (assume with a priest in a crusader) and would you give any special weapons to the blood claws?

I add two Flamers to the Blood Claws, but i play lots of Footguard, Tyranids and Orks. In general two Meltas are probably the best for all-comers. Until now i have not used a Wolf Guard along them, but one with Terminator armor, a Chainfist and a magnetized Combimelta/Combiflamer sits on my painting table.

One strength of a BC pack is the number of troops in power armor. If you put Arjac in a large unit of BCs he can swing away without fear of injury for a few rounds because there are so many bodies in power armor to absorb wounds and WGs can't be targetted separately
