Brother Caleb
I have greatly appreciated the advise I get from the more experience brothers here on at the Fang. I again seek your counsel. I have 2 battleforces, 3.5 rhinos, and Ulrick. I am seriously considering the wolf-brother's thunderwolves he's casting and advertising here. However, what do you think my next step should be? I need some LFs; I've been "counts as"-ing them up to this point. If I go with LFs what's the cheapest way to get them on the table? Would you recommend getting a few tanks instead? LR perhaps? Just trying to make an informed decision. Thanks, guys. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/ Share on other sites
IcemanAAO
definatley long fangs theyre far more versatile i use 4 ML's and 1 LC split firing means 1 krak missile and 1 lc shot at the enemy armour and 3 frag missiles at the infantry Iceman Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/#findComment-2435537 Share on other sites
Hotspur
Long Fangs are great! Their split-fire ability is one of the best in the game. Iceman's loadout is pretty solid, so you'd definitely be OK going with something like that. I like to switch mine up depending on what I'm fighting; my generic LF squad goes something like this: 3x plasma, 2x las. It seems to get the job done very efficiently against most armies, but it is points heavy. I don't run LFs in all of my builds, so I may not be the best person to ask/respond, but I sure do like them when I use them! I would also consider getting the SW upgrade sprue if you haven't already; lots of good bitz in there. And, when in doubt, Grey Hunters for the win! Good luck. Stormshrug
Scouts. Edit: Which are apparently included in the battleforce (I admit, I've never bought one, and in my early morning stupor, offhandedly assumed that it was just basic troop-type stuff). D'oh! Never mind, then. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/#findComment-2435600 Share on other sites
JMac
Seems to me, with the two battleforces purchased, that he has a few scouts to toy with. Long Fang's all the way brother. They are much cheaper than a tank, more flexible as far as options go, and you can attach WGPL in TDA with a heavy weapon to beef up the pack size. IMO, the Long Fangs are the clear choice here. What you stack them with is the real debate. Most brothers here stick with the ML tactic. There are many (and one recent if I'm not mistaken) on this debate and should seek their for help. Black2Jack1
I'd have to agree with the long fangs, iv used 2 Lascannon 3 plasma cannon in 1500-1750 point games. My second favorite unit in the game. In 2500 point games I use 4 lascannon (because I dont have 5). and 5 Plasma cannon long fangs. I was happy at how less expensive they were compare to the C:SM devestators. S. Bloodhowl
I would suggest getting the other 0.5 rhino first then Long fangs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/#findComment-2435761 Share on other sites
Ash Tekka
How do you end up with a half a rhino anyways? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/#findComment-2435851 Share on other sites
Brother Caleb
How do you end up with a half a rhino anyways? It's not that great of a story. I have most of it, but I'm missing the hatches and the storm bolter. I couldn't decide how I wanted to put them on, and then they got lost in various moves. Karack Blackstone
Use the Rhino and just don't care, or get a finished one if money isn't tight. Otherwise, Long Fangs and some Scouts will help. LF's first since they will be the major source of HS (Heavy Support) in this case. Scouts are more if you want to play dirty with your foe. Fun, but not always nice to them. No mention of how this makes you feel, I find them amazing in concept but don't always work out for me. So I tend not to use them. Warhorse47
+whatever on the LF, use 4 ML and a LC to start with as suggested above. It's an all around unit. Then get a Razorback hatch and turret to haul those Fangs around! Requiem of the Wolf
Long Fangs...I have never regretted bringing them, but regretted not bringing them several times. Once you get 1-2 squads of Long fangs...Then yeah...thunderwolf Cav or a thunderwolf Lord is amazing. Godhead
Man I just can't get LF's to work for me. They are way too static. I thought adding more packs to my list would help, I ended up fielding 3 packs of 4 ML 1 LC's and then I still end up moving them around looking for LOS, or better fire lanes. It seems to happen all the time. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204266-what-do-i-get-next/#findComment-2437335 Share on other sites
