Scoring units - how many?

Well, optimally you'd want at least ~30 scoring power-armored bodies in any given army. Sadly, tactical marines are rather underwhelming, so I rarely take more then two squads (in the 1500-1850 pts bracket, and I get 3 in the 1850+ bracket).

 

That being said, there are ways to mitigate tactical squad overall crappiness. You can get Pedro and a big fat sternguard unit, giving you a huge powerful scoring squad. You can also get khan/bike captain and then include a full bike squad as your 3rd troop choice. This is the way it works for me.
