Harc_Staven
Hi all, long time reader first time poster so forgive me if this thread has already been discussed. I was introduced to 40k about a year ago and im now a bit of a fluff magnet, the lore of 40k is so interesting to me and makes alot of scenes. I was wondering (even though the chainsword is deadly as it is and i dont care much for the people who slander the "realism" of a chainsword) would it be possible to have a power chainsword? some sort of lost STC or something and if so how would that increase its effectiveness in combat? cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204386-power-chainsword/ Share on other sites
Ravenger
in the space wolves codex from third edition Frost blades could be Chain weapons, and Ragnar Blackmane still wields a Chain/frost blade. so im sure it could be argued that a power weapon could be affixed to the teeth of a chainsword If you were to do this, id say try to acquire some Khorne Bezerker Chain Axes for coolness effect Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204386-power-chainsword/#findComment-2437190 Share on other sites
Whitefireinferno
:D power chainswords has been a Idea I have thought of really it would just project the powerfeild around the chain to increase its cutting power and also leave nice raggerd slashes in what ever your cut to bits all you really would need to do it put those power cables up the sides and your good to go maybe a glow off the chain but yeah. Harc_Staven
nice, i know power swords have a sort of destabalizing effect on nearby atoms so i think with the added effect of having monomolecular bladded teeth of the chainsword it would greatly increase the cutting ability of the chainsword. Zeller
It's simple. 1. Find a chainsword 2. Install a device that surrounds the killy end of the chainsword in a disruptive field. 3. ??? 4. Profit. In all seriousness I don't see why you couldn't do this. What is a powersword but a blade with a disruptive field around it. What difference does it make if the blade is a chainblade? daboarder
I've seen a really cool coonversion of a sword where the bottom half was a chainblade and then the top merged into an actual sword blade. mysteriousmaskedmystery
you need an eviscerator for this, from one of the sister's repentia. chain axes are so 2009. Argon
One word Gorechild. Seconded. It isn't necessarily a matter of putting a power field generator in a chainsword. It's a matter of making a chainsword with really, really sharp teeth. Priest33
Could almost argue that Seth has one of these.. Being a Str 8 rending Chainsword and all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204386-power-chainsword/#findComment-2437398 Share on other sites
Redo
Chain Fists on terminators have a filed surrounding the chainsowrd piece and they are devastating against vehicles...especially BA with Furious charge. S9 Chain Fists. Wow! So why not chainswords with a powerfield. Make it clear on the model or to the opponent. No Problemo. Wildfire
in the space wolves codex from third edition Frost blades could be Chain weapons, and Ragnar Blackmane still wields a Chain/frost blade. so im sure it could be argued that a power weapon could be affixed to the teeth of a chainsword Slight fluff correction: all frost weapons are straight chain weapons, with no power field. The added strength bonus comes from using special teeth (kraken, if memory serves) in the construction. But yeah, chain fists already combine properties of both, so with proper construction I don't see why a chain/power sword combination wouldn't work, fluffwise. Gridlocked
To make it stand out use one of the DC chainswords with the nice BA ornamentation in a squad of troops using standard ones. Kurasuke
The only issue I could see coming up is that it would be really difficult to differentiate between the two on the tabletop. Unless the chainsword is in a Space Wolves army or is way oversized, it is always a close combat weapon with no special rules.
