Jarl Bloodwolf
I really like the new Ven Dread but sadly I haven't seen alot of people use them and their are even less pictures of them online. What I am wondering is if anyone has used one for their SW army and done any conversions as I would be interested in seeing them painted up with SW colors and such. So if anyone has any pictures or suggestions I'd appreciate it. I am actually planning on buying one and adding some WHFB Dwarf bits to make it look like it has ancient wargear. For instance for its las cannon I will cut the standard barrels off and replace them with two barrels from the Dwarf Organ Gun as well as some of the ancestor bits. I already have a unit of dwarf warriors that I've used for my Grey Hunters and Wolf Guard and I have one of the banners left over that I want to put on top of the dread and I also want to use the dragons head from the dwarf musician as the head for my dreadnought but I am not sure if it will work size wise. And of course I will add a few wolf pelts Also does anyone have suggestions as far as painting them? would they have alot of gold? anything will help Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204489-space-wolves-venerable-dreadnought/ Share on other sites
KiltedMarine
The conversions sound like good ideas! I look forward to seeing pics! My second ven dread was built using the new kit. My chapter isn't terribly "standard" SW to begin with (Celts, not Vikings, and orange, not grey), but they're still barbaric in character. I used a lot of the parts without sculpted details, and painted knotwork designs and illustrations akin to the kind you see in the Book of Kells and other Celtic illuminated manuscripts. I've got a freehand wolf on the left shoulder I'm particularly proud of. Grey Mage
How does it stack up size wise to the non-resin dreads? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204489-space-wolves-venerable-dreadnought/#findComment-2438649 Share on other sites
Simo429
How does it stack up size wise to the non-resin dreads? I prefer it I think it looks a lot nicer and it has the symmetry that I like from models but very rarely get from my own conversions but its pricey because of buying the arms separately and personally I don't dare try and so much of a conversion on resin just because of how much it costs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204489-space-wolves-venerable-dreadnought/#findComment-2438653 Share on other sites
NealSmith
I am in the process of adding "wolfiness" to one of the new Ven Dreads now. Mostly what I've done is add some of the wolf skulls and the storm shields to it. The more rectangular power armor storm shields, I file the backs down so they lay flatter and put them on the "front" beside the sarcophagus. I put the wolf helmet on him. Put one of the terminator storm shields on his DCCW arm and then the backpack banner (with top and bottom removed) as sort of a "loin cloth" on the front. He's on the back burner right now as I just can't seem to fit him into a list yet. There are just too many options and not enough points to go around! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204489-space-wolves-venerable-dreadnought/#findComment-2438834 Share on other sites

I'm trying to get a list together that has everything I like in it but there never seems to be enough room for everyone :woot: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204489-space-wolves-venerable-dreadnought/#findComment-2438942 Share on other sites

Which head are you talking about? Is it the wolf helmit from the SW sprue or did you use like a wolf skull or something?
