Harc_Staven
Can you use Blood Shard Bolts from the Angelus Bolters for high ranking units (i.e. Captains, Chaplains, Honour Guard, Sternguard) or are they exclusive to the Sang Guard??
Jakobus
Nope no Bloodshard outside the Sang Guard, which is kind of a pity, would have been nice to see some HQ units with them. The Sternguard probably have better option using the Kraken Bolts.
Brother_Dan'l
Kraken Bolts and Blood Shards are apples and oranges. Kraken makes up for the RF inability to assault with extra range. While Blood Shards are the opposite, you trade range for the ability to assault. Honestly it's not a loss not having access to special bolt rounds on our HQs. We do have Infernus Pistols after all. :) And I'll take an IC with an Infernus Pistol over one with a Bolter, even with funky ammo, any day of the millennium. Leonaides
Kraken bolts dont make up for lask of charging with extra range. if you need the extra shooting range, then you're way out of charge range. They're simialr in that they're modified botler shells - but meant for different things.
Brother Nathan
this is where i think gw really did muck up. if they had given the option for that funky gear on captains then more kits would be bought by those who want to convert them. say i wanted to use a funky captain and a san guard unit, then i would have needed a second sanguard box. and it wouldnt have made the army any stronger just more flexible. poor fore thought gw....
