Tycho

The BRB even says that Wave Serpent's front armor is 2. 2?!

and it doesnt matter because codex > rule book. they could say that marines are all relentless and have FnP in the rule book and you wouldnt get it anyway.

I tycho was an actual missprint it would be errated , not FAQed[those are at leat technicly unofficial]. no such thing happened . So he runs alone.

My real confusion comes from the bat rep Morticon wrote of, wherein Tycho is leading a Death Company unit.

Matt Ward doesnt know his own codex rules and the way they play stuff at the GW HQ [the whole beer and pretzel thing] is a lot different from what normal games are played . Check the last WD and what the main desinger writes about BAs , it is as if he was playing a different codex , in a different setting. :mellow:

Apparently, you missed the point of my post completely. I was pointing out the fact that GW makes mistakes on a regular basis, and listed proof of such mistakes. Not that someone try to tell me that my Serpent's front AV is 2, and that I must abide by it.

In response to your later posts, all you are going speculation. You're not GW. Therefore, whether you like it or not, everything that you have to say about whether or something is going to get FAQd/erratad or not is an opinion just like everyone else. No more. No less.

Sang, serriously, I've had your back before on this forum- but if you're only contributions are going to be like this, don't bother.

BB - i think Sang was backing you up and speaking out against "having a brick smashed in your face" for asking a question that is hazey at best. Maybe a bit edgy mate :P

Yeah, BB, what Morticon said! :mellow:

I originally had "@ brick thrower" but I didn't want to get the red card again for flaming, so I generalized it.

Everyone should feel free to try the not-so-clear both ways, RAW vs RAI, as I did with my Psycho and as the OP asked, and share the good, bad and ugly with their 'brothers' without getting blasted. No more soapbox, just want to have fun and someday see BAs dominate the universe. - Sang.

The problem is that people are confusing RAI with fluff. Boiled down simply, here is my view on it;

RAW: DC Tycho is a "one man unit", just as Mephiston and the Sanguinor.

RAI: DC Tycho is a "one man unit", the fact that he has 'Fleet' lends supports this, as 'Fleet' would be completely wasted if he was in a DC unit.

Fluff: DC Tycho should definitely be able to join the Death Company, as he is in fact inducted into it.

As both RAI and RAW points to DC Tycho being a "one man unit", the chance that GW will FAQ it, is slim. However they might change their minds and Errata it. I find this highly unlikely though, as both his RAI and RAW points to him being a solitary character, releasing an Errata changing that means that the actual Tycho is far from how he's written in the book. GW does not like people picking up the book, and then after going online, realise that the unit is completely different to how it's been written. It's confusing and that's not in the interest of GW to have.

There is also the fact that ruleswise it would create a massive problem. This would lead to one of two things;

1) DC Tycho becomes an upgrade character to the Death Company. This puts him in the completely wrong section of the book (HQ), and means he can't be taken on his own.

2) DC Tycho gets some sort of special rule, making him an IC that can only join the Death Company. This creates further complicated rules when it comes to handling him in comparison to other characters. Is he counted as an IC or not? How will you target him in combat? Etc etc.

Both of these two changes make for overly complex rulemongering in tournaments, as well as for confusing new players. The top one also means you cannot field DC Tycho on his own either, which again, makes his 'Fleet' pointless. I would wish people would consider all the implications and ideas of rules before jumping to conclusions.

DC Tycho could split off from the DC at the beginning of his movement phase to assault another unit. It's not a big deal if GW changes his rules so that Tycho can join DC.

I personally don't see what is gruff with the fluff and who cates anyways? CSM are all renegades now & SW are now known to go over to Chaos. There is a lot of excellent background in the new book. It's not like you see lots of us BA players running over to the SW forum to crack on your background about silly stuff like thunder ponies.

The problem is that people are confusing RAI with fluff. Not true. This OP just asked if an FAQ or Errata had come out yet. Boiled down simply, here is my view on it;

RAW: DC Tycho is a "one man unit", just as Mephiston and the Sanguinor.

RAI: DC Tycho is a "one man unit", the fact that he has 'Fleet' lends supports this, as 'Fleet' would be completely wasted if he was in a DC unit. Not necessarily. He could lose it when he joins a unit ala footnote, or could possibly give said unit his rule ala footnote. Since we don't know GW's "intent" its still a burning question, RAI that is.

Fluff: DC Tycho should definitely be able to join the Death Company, as he is in fact inducted into it. Glad we agree on something, because I thoroughly enjoyed his performance when I joined him to 5 BG DC in an LRC!

As both RAI and RAW points to DC Tycho being a "one man unit", the chance that GW will FAQ it, is slim. However they might change their minds and Errata it. 1) DC Tycho becomes an upgrade character to the Death Company. This puts him in the completely wrong section of the book (HQ), and means he can't be taken on his own. Not necessarily, I'll respect your opinion though.

2) DC Tycho gets some sort of special rule, making him an IC that can only join the Death Company. This creates further complicated rules when it comes to handling him in comparison to other characters. Is he counted as an IC or not? How will you target him in combat? Etc etc. Again, not necessarily, not any different than Lemartes, except he's HQ not TROOP.

This is a forum with 50,000+ opinions, viewpoints and interpretations. Yours, and mine, are 2:50,000. Neither absolutely wrong nor absolutely correct until expected FAQ and/or Errata is published. Until which, yes we should play by RAW, but should also be afforded the opportunity to question RAI without being eviscerated. It's a member-driven "forum" not constitutional laws or mandates.

And "kollar" if you're a Space Pup, may your next match against a Son of Sanguinius, to include either incarnation of Tycho, bring death, ruin and damnation to your army. Cheers.

I'm a Blood Angels player, through and through, don't know where you got the impression I play Space Wolves!

(Only 40k army I ever played).

I don't think if death company tycho can be fielded as part of the death company that he would be able to leave the squad and charge an other unit since both he and DC are forced to attack the closest target.

As I recall Rage, they just have to move towards the closest target, NOT to assault them.

He runs alone until an FAQ is released. Although I would like to see a nid FAQ that finally puts the Doom bebate to rest but we don't want to open that up again...

Matt Ward's rule knowledge, fluff writing and army book writing skills are pathetic, his codex ones are okish but not great.

MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES, BROTHER SON OF SANGUINIUS!!! May I offer incents and the Angel's blessings to caste away that grievous accusation.

Seriously though, being BA is all the more reason to not be so etched in stone. RAW is by the letter in a Tournament environment, but even then, due to themes and random scenarios some RAWs get stretched, at the discretion of the TOs.

RAI = 50,000+ "interpretations" with the only definitive way being the 1 agreed upon before any friendly game, which is why I questioned Tycho's RAI.

I'll concede that much and maybe one day soon GW resolves it (Tycho) among other minutea.

Til then, have a 40 on the house.
