HighMarshalEagle
Ok, so i got several Bikes before making a realization. The Space Marine bikes do not fit the Templar Scheme at all. After mulling about for a while, i was looking at some fantasy models at my LGS and stumbled across what i hope to be the fix for that. Nothing says Templar to me more than a man riding a gigantic (which it must be to be carrying a fully armoured Templar) warhorse. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p257/TheEagle82/Black%20Templar/P5160004.jpg Thats a Space Marine torso on a Bretonian Knight leg set and horse. I think i'm going to have to chop up some legs to make them look right, cutting the legs off where the bret armour starts showing, and carving the inside of the SM legs so they fit on the horse. I'm hoping to keep the tunic/sword belts of the brets, as well as the well fitting saddle butts they have, in the finished product. But my real problem occurs when trying to represent (for all 8 that i have) the bikes twin linked bolters. I've already decided that the lances are going to be power weapons. I was thinking about a BA style wrist mounted setup, but i'm throwing this out to see if any of you have a better idea. Vulkan454
Thats looks very good. I agree on making the legs more space mariney but otherwise well done. For the bolters you could try what I did for my dino-riders, just sticking two together: Hope this helps. Chaplain Hiltraud
Shoulder/Backpack mounted twin bolters. Something cool like the Inquistor Covenant model. That's what I'd go with. Tropicana
Counts-As. Model them to look jawesome, and then worry about the Rules. That's the philosophy I go by. :tu: Tropicana :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204585-need-advice/#findComment-2439645 Share on other sites
HighMarshalEagle
Ok, so the responses prompted me to actually take some action on this 4 month old project. The main sticking point was the WYSIWYG for the weaponry, but a trip to the bitz box and some imagination have solved that... i hope. The work on the legs meshing the cloth with the GS cloth doesnt really come through well in the photo's though. Heres the prototype Templar Biker: http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p257/TheEagle82/Black%20Templar/P5290003.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p257/TheEagle82/Black%20Templar/P5290001.jpg http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p257/TheEagle82/Black%20Templar/P5290004.jpg So, whats everyone think? Is this a yay or nay conversion? One down, only 7 more to go. Total costs for this project are going to be a bit less than just getting the bikes, but be alot more fitting with the theme of a Templar army. A box of Bretonnian Knights Errant / Knights of the Realm ($35), a box of Tac marines ($35), and a BT upgrade pack ($30), Superglue ($2), Greenstuff ($1), Bitz (we all already generally have these, but still) ($5). Rosco151
Looks pretty good to me, like what you've done with the legs. Only thing I'd say is that some kind of 'barding' would look good, to provide the horse with armour. Kid Famous The Punch
You could just convert space marine bikes to have the same kind of sweeping tabards as a horse. I mean, just pretend you're making the same stuff the horse is wearing fit onto the bike. It would be really cool. But the horse is fine I guess. I would definitely not skimp on the knight helmets for those marines though. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204585-need-advice/#findComment-2439955 Share on other sites
