Dr Duck
At the moment my realm of battle - battleboard is unpainted as i'm still not quite sure how to tackle the issue. Style wise i know that I want it as a greyish desert world. I'm reluctant to use flock too, as i don't think this will be durable enough or give a nice finish. I'm also concerned about the hills being a bit slick as in its current unpainted form heavy models often slide down it. Has anyone else out there got one and what did they do with it to bring up a nice and useable finish? Brother Nihm
I am in the same boat as you. My plan is to get mine painted over the course of summer. -preferably with the use of an airbrush. -skull-pits will be filled. to answer your question, -I will apply glue + light sand to the slippery parts of the hills and paint over that. My biggest concern is paint chipping when it is packed up in the bag that came with it however. Hellios
I would do as nihm said and stick a bit of sand the slick bits. Then paint :) and put some sealent over to help prevent chipping. Leonaides
Textured outdoor masonry paint in the rough undercoat colour you want, then drybrush/airbrush to taste... You may still need to undercoat with spray to give the masonry paint something to adhere to, I dont know as i did my painting onto chipboard. chromedog
You will need to prime the plastic WITH AN ACTUAL PROPER PRIMER, not GW spray paint, to get the textured paint to adhere properly. Auto primer works well for the job and is reasonably cheap and easy to find (unless you are underage and your country has an issue with your ilk being graffiti vandals). Seal it afterwards with a good polyurethane varnish and even sand will stay on it. Brother Nihm
The old Chaos Black (meaning pre 'new formula') was a primer, the new one isn't. If you want a finish similar to the old Chaos Black, I've heard that Tamiya's TS-6 Matt Black is almost identical to that one. Haven't tried it myself yet though. Tanhausen
If you are talking about the GW 200 Euro board... a friend of mine got his and primed it, dry brushed it and white-glue+electrostatic grass in designated areas. He keeps it away in the big black bag they provide and though the electrostatic grass is a pain (even a year after doing it, it still looses a bit every time... but no patches are to be seen!!), if you are careful when storing/picking up, you should be fine :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204592-warzone/#findComment-2441477 Share on other sites
