Grim Dog Studios
Is njal as effective in power armour as he is in TDA, because people keep telling me to use njal instead of a regular rune priest. I have the rune priest in PA mini, but i dont wanna fork out £12 for the njal model. So could i use my rune priest as njal? Warhorse47
Why not, as long as your opponent knows who he is at the start. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204601-njal-without-tda/#findComment-2439927 Share on other sites
CainTheHunter
About his effectiveness - his shooting powers and Lord of Tempest's abilities don't work while he is in Land Raider (no fire points) - so in Rhino he might do something without disembarking. The RTDA is a good buy with a 4+ invul save for only 25 points, but at best it makes him more durable. He might be more of a glass cannon without the RTDA but he'll still pack a punch. However, a base of 245, I think, without a invuln seems...lacking. You may be better off sticking with the RP if you're not going to take the RTDA. I've never tried to run him without it, but you might give it a go in a friendly game and let us know how it goes. NealSmith
TDA = Tactical Dreadnought Armor (i.e. Terminator Armor) RTDA = Runic Tactical Dreadnought Armor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204601-njal-without-tda/#findComment-2442580 Share on other sites
Aeddon
wth is TDA? Terminator Armour? someone tell me please im bursting my bowels to find out lol Tactical Dreadnought Armour, aka Terminator Armour. I've used Njal with regular Runic Armour, mounted in a Rhino w/ a Grey Hunter pack. Can't really say that this build hasn't been fun but I personally prefer him in his Runic TDA with a pack of Wolf Guard Terminators. Mostly it comes down to playstyle but both can be very good builds. Its not a shooting attack so I don't see why it would not work either. Thats how we've been playing it. wolvesoffenris
In the text for the Lord of Tempests it states that only models that are in Njal's line of sight are affected. Since a Land Raider has no fire points for him to see out of, LOT doesn't work from it. A rhino however, does have a fire point for him to see out of. Therefore Njal in a rhino with only runic armor on can use the LOT ability to full affect.
