A good alternative to blood claws?

but if your runing a slogging sw list you are already doing something wrong . even the 11 man with rhino wall GH build is rather meh.

+ unless you run a WL sw HQ should never be anyway near hth. why go to a place where you can be killed when you can stay at range and buff the whole army .

Fail. Of all the marine varieties out there, SWs have one of the best times Footslogging, second only to BAs.

Better Durability, cheaper troops, more assault oriented too. Running from cover to cover while faster elements tie up the enemy.... its not so hard to pull off.

The key to a footslogging army in 5th is the same as it was in 4rth, or 3rd- have fast supporting units and good long range firepower.

Well, weve got the LR firepower covered- Longfangs Vindicators, Whirlwinds.... yep, that should it. Fast supporting units? Yep, got that too- Fenrisian Wolves, TWC, Swiftclaws, Landspeeders.... and Wolf Scouts.

Cause enough havoc with those two things and most opponents wont have the ability to spare the firepower for killing your troops until half of them have hit their lines.

Lots vehicles listed in the 'good' units for a footslogging army...

Units need to be (a) fast (b) shooty or © cheap.

While LF, wolves, TWC, Shiftclaws are all good in that role I do not see footslogging no-range Bloodclaws matching any of those criteria.

how does he do the runing thing with BC 17 man squads getting boged down in terrain ? also there is a difference between a jump pack slogging list or the old 4th ed nid list with 24" treat range and BC swarm that moves 6+d6" per turn . It worked in the 4th and the transist , because BC could run 2 fists 2 power weapons in each squad for cheap . right no BC are no where as good or as cheap

how does the build look like and how is it better then normal mecha . SW "fast"moving units are not transported , so what ever goes faster eats shoting and gets counter assaulted by meq lists . and unlike the 4th ed falcons wolfs or TW mounted stuff are not invulerable . + what kind of army wont be able to counter and switch . IG will , SW mecha will , BAs are both faster and as good as SW in hth[only they will have their full army vs the "fast" stuff] .

and what if the tables happens to be a lava board or has one big terrain in the middle [and I seen tables like that on most GT tournaments around the world for many years] , lose because there is no cover ? a mecha SW army doesnt have those problems and 10 man GH units are actualy cheaper then 15 man BC squads supported by IC like it was suggested. it has its own cover , uses the same support units [only can LoS/charge block] unlike a slogger list . it also deals better with mecha and skimer builds , because at least for a turn it has 24" range melta guns , while the BC build has non .

Why would he play like an idiot and bog them down going through terrain? And in fact about 8 months ago you were throwing down footslogging bloodclaw lists for 5th ed- nothings significantly changed here.

Id love to see a Landspeeder get counter-assaulted, or have someone stop my scouts from OBELing. Again, you apparently dont know how to run a Footsloggers list, or youd know- enemy transports are a top priority, right next to artillery.

Thats what Stormcaller is for. In a open board like that SW rhinos are likely to die fairly quickly to shots that a TDA Pack Leader *who is about the same price* could shrug off.

Again, your being obtuse- BCs can be a good part of a footslogging army, but that doesnt mean that Im advocating an army of nothing but bloodclaws- the old ration of 3:2 or 2:1 works well. Though I myself prefer to be heavier on GHs.
