MaleOpener
Very cool Company, Maleopener, and thank you for the feedback. I'm going to try the melta/flamer combo as that's what seems best seen and would be useful against my foes around here. I cannot believe I missed that Storm caller power, that's really great because cover can be scarce for me on some of our table atmosphere's, and I'm keeping my liking of lightening. Yeah, I do feel like just gluing the bit on is kinda cheap, but I can't buy a comander box just for one, so for now I'll just use melta-bombs, till I can ask around my gaming group for some spare bits and see what I can do. I was curious about the lone wolf still. I wanted to try a TDA variant, but that gets kinda pricey for a one pack unit, meant to die or not. You're quite welcome, and thanks for the kind comment  I don't use a Lone Wolf much, but I think this link can help you decide : Lone Wolf discussion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204687-aiding-a-bloodclaw/page/2/#findComment-2443480 Share on other sites
Kanis
Thanks, that was quite insightful! I'm going to really try a Lone Wolf now, seeing so much positive feedback and use of one. TDA for sure, but as to the weapons I'm not sure, perhaps a TH/SS for some smashing, with a melta-bomb just in case. I'm about to try and write a few lists out, but I wanted to get a few opinions on how many troop packs I should have? I'm using a full BC pack already, plus 2, maybe three GH packs, is that too much for a core? As for Troops, you will want to have 1 full troop choice per 500 points in your army. I would only use a 15 man BC pack if you have the points to put them in a Crusader, otherwise they will get chewed up too badly. Otherwise,10 GH,2 special weapons,Wolf Standard,Powerweapon or Powerfist,in a Rhino. Mark of the Wulfen is also a good option. Up to the first..2000 points or so,it is a good idea to spend half your points almost on Grey Hunters. They will form the backbone of a asskicking army, they are almost as nasty in a fight as most other codex's veterans, and they are scoring units. 10 GH,Mark of the Wulfen,2 Plasma Guns,Power Fist,Wolf Standard in a Rhino is 245 points, able to take on Armor and Troops. 10 GH,Mark of the Wulfen,2 Melta Guns,Power Weapon,Wolf Standard in a Rhino is 230 Points, and still able to take on Armor and Troops. I would recommend Alternating between the two set ups for your Grey Hunter packs. Kanis
That's some solid advice Requiem, thank you! I'm going to take my BC pack out until I can properly field them in a LRC or something close, that makes a lot of sense now. I'll take 3 packs of GH with loadouts similiar to those listed above, but since I'm not using any APC's they'll be a little cheaper total though probly less effective. But, now I've got some space since the BC pack is dropped, and I've no idea what to add. A WGTDA pack? Another HQ aside from Ulrik, like a Rune priest I like the sound off, but I'm not sure about powers since my local group is mostly Nids/CSM. Ok...I would really really recommend giving them Rhinos...It helps a whole lot. I wouldn't neccessarily add in Ulrik, instead just do a normal Wolf Priest, since they are close to as good and far cheaper. And yes...Rune Priests are allways a good thing to have. Murderous Hurricane and Living Lightning are my favorite Offensive powers. Letting you take a pack of 'gaunts and making them take dangerous and difficult terrain tests any time they move, fleet or assault is just pure win. Living lightning is a great thing for popping lightly armored vehicles. If you put your Rune Priest with a Squad of Long Fangs, that can't get Cover, you can give him master of runes,Living Lightning and Stormcaller...and then they allways have a 5+ cover save, and you get even more vehicle popping action. Kanis
Well, I'd like to add some armor down the road, but as I've said earlier, I can't afford anything else for a good while, so I'm just trying to make do with what I've got. I'm not trying to do a sharp competing list since my group is pretty laid back, but tryin to work with what I've got to do well! Sadly, all the great tactics and recommendations so far I can't do or can't afford, so I feel badly for "wasting" my brother's wisdom...
