daboarder
hey guys I've been thinking of buying a few sets of the metal BA shoulder pads and replacing the left pad on most of my rank and file marines. I remeber their being an old thread about someone purchasing the metal shoulder pads but finding them to small and I was wondering if this is indeed the case, would they infact look wierd on my marines? Carnus Caedes
They are smaller and do standout when applied with plastic pads but can be remedied if paired with the metal blood drop pads, which incidentally are equal in size
daboarder
hmmm Yeah I dont really want to ditch all my shoulder pads but I figured some sculpted chapter symbols would look better than the decal ones, Oh well I think I may just go with the chapterhouse studio souldrinker pads instead as a grail would work well as my chapter symbol If I cant get the gold winged BA one. edit: maybe I could find a bits seller and buy the plastic ones
Isryion
You can buy just the pads on a place like ebay, too, if you are looking for the pads that come in the DC box. I agree that the metal ones are a bit smaller, but at the same time, I don't think it's as noticeable as some think.
Brother Theophantus
They are indeed a bit smaller than the plastic pads and don't cover the shoulder quite as well. Also the ones I got all needed a fair amount of filing to fit properly though I can't say if that was just the batch I got or indicitive of a problem with GW's casting. Hurrey
All my BA have the Blood Angels shoulder pad 1. No one has ever commented that they look odd as they are paired with plastic ones. They are little bit smaller but I barely notice. H
Rybnick
I'm with Hurrey. I have the metal shoulder pads on my ASM and even though they are a tiny bit smaller than the plastic pads I rarely ever notice the difference.
Quantra
I've been using a combination of plastic and metal pads... I never even knew they were smaller until I read this thread 0.
Mortare
I have about 200 of the metal pads for my marines. They are a little tighter on the inside so usually have to file some of the shoulder down and the inside of the pad, but other than that they are fine. You can't tell the difference with the plastic ones when painted
daboarder
hmm ok sounds good, and just when I thought I had finished most of my stuff to....oh well such is the price of being a fluff nut.
Rejects of Anvilus
And of course you can always do what i did and make them larger. That is if you don't mind spending many, many, many hours fiddling with plasticard, superglue and green stuff, to the point you almost go mad
