SolitaryTemplar
Well just started my new sister army and I have been dieng to paint darkangels terminators scheme on to sisters of battle for some time, well instead of the green i went with dark purple robes and here is the first few test models. Tell me what you think. http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac102/R...pg?t=1277182189 http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac102/R...pg?t=1277182189 http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac102/R...pg?t=1277183488 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204784-new-sisters-player-infantry-army/ Share on other sites
WAR
Very nice I have since another army with a similar scheme before... Think it was memento mori he has a blog when cannons fade also but I think the bone armour is nicely offset by the purple robes. And welcome to the new love of Sisters of Battle. Lone Scout
I like the bone armour, not sure about the purple  Ok so I don't like the purple, I had another look. I'd stick with the black hair, it looks better than the blue. Personally I'd try a figure with scab red cloth with blood red highlights...not saying your scheme doesn't work, I just think the red would offer a better contrast. (I find sisters some of the hardest figures to paint) Good luck, burn the witch. SolitaryTemplar
Well I started this army using the army painter spray and dip method so I could use there bone to coat 80+ models and paint them with deep recess quickly so i could dd into my apoc lists. Just matter of doing some bone, purple, and boltgun and ice blue on the lenses, and one dip in the army painter strong tone witch for all intents is a wash in a gloss think brown shiny ink.it pools kinda heavily on the purple but ive been thinking about doing the robes, after they get there tone so the model can still be highlited by brighter violets. Sorry bone and purple are the two colors i want to keep, regardless, just need to find how to make it work a lil better. also I am trying to avoid the golds, reds, blacks and whites that people seem to allways use in sisters , purple means royal and theres got to be a way to make it look holy. Obliterator
The bone and purple work great together, but I don't like the blue hair to be honest. I understand where you are going with this army, and that you want a force on the table fast, but IMHO you need more details painted. The boltgun casing, the chaplet ecclesiasticus and some of the tubes on the armor for example. Right now, it doesn't say 'finished mini' to me, it just looks like a bone primered mini where the robes, face and hair been painted. WarriorFish
Good scheme, I like it! Purple looks great on SoB as does white (or bone). I agree that some paint on the details would make them look better but other than that they look good! Lone Scout
Purple it is then ;) The best purple I have ever used is Vallejo model color "blue violet" It is more intense than GW purples. Vallejo make a royal purple but I found it too dark (close to lich purple). Hope this helps. calypso2ts
I like the purple I did a set using DA colors as well (I like your bone better than the bleached bone I used for the robes). I think the purple pops a bit better with it and I understand your desire to avoid a lot of the "typical" colors (I am doing all my units using different legion colors). SolitaryTemplar
Lone Scout great tip on the Vallejo blue violet i like it just need to figure out how or were i wanna use it, i think ill use an old school ultramarine yellow on the fleurs and wings details, as for the bolters, bone is lazy but i can do it alot of times and keep it looking consitently good, probally add hazard stripes as i identify sqds in various noc typical colors. i love the dark angels scheme, on your sisters calypso, i tried this a few years ago but never made a force of it till now, kinda found of pre heresy death guard and emperors children schemes. yes ill change the hair as i get more wild colrs, i want a mix of bruntees, reds, blondes, auburns, black hairs, albino, and the occasional "My name is Candy" model like the one with blue hair.
