VENGEANCE
Hiya! The crowd, a moment before roaring in anticipation of the forthcoming goal, suddenly fell silent as the shadow of what had been thought was a thundercloud began to grow, and grow, until, engines howling, the Thunderhawk gunship landed on the green field. The crowd, too amazed to run, watched as a huge steel platform descended and out marched seven enormous men, one holding a weapon which looked like it was taller than himself. I was just walking down the street, thinking about thinking as usual, when an idea for a story hit me; the Ultramarines come to Earth as it is today! Now, obviously, this would never be taken seriosusly, but I still think the idea is pretty intriguing. What if Earth is not Terra, but a different planet in the Warhammer 40k universe? And what would happen when the marines arrive? They would probably say "Who is your leader?". What would we say? The Queen? The President of the USA? My bet is the President. Then they'll say "Kneel before us and turn yourselves over to the God-Emperor, or be branded as heretics". Following the trail that it's Obama, the next event will probably be like "Now now, I'm sure we can come to a diplomatic solution. We all have different beliefs, and I'm sure you will agree yours are no more important than ours." He gets vaporised by a plasma pistol. So then, America tries nuking them, but all that does is do more damage to the planet. The Marines, a little unsure what was meant by this, take it as they take everything; heresy. 1/3-1/2 of Earth is killed for Heresy. The rest are heaped into newly constructed Hive Worlds and some are taken for experimentation and questioning, naturally. But let's say this doesn't happen, and the Marines aren't insulted almost immediately but begin talking to one of the scientists. "Now you see, Techmarine Ulius, this wire sends an electro-signal down through the tubing to this little engine here, which is what allows the engine to begin and the turbines to spin. This contraption is not a living entity and certainly shouldn't be worshipped." The Techmarine pulls him apart with his servo-arm. What if it were the Space Wolves? "No, mr. Blackmane, we don't believe in fighting. Murder is bad. Drinking is a sin. Skinning is harmful to the environment and ecosystems. Besides, it isn't that cold here. And you can't bring that gun into the country without a passport. Sorry." Dark Angels would probably just make friends with the Pope and convert the entire population of Earth. (No Offense) And then, what if they found the Games Workshop team? They found tiny miniatures of themselves. Imagine that! Grey Hunter Ydalir
And then, what if they found the Games Workshop team? They found tiny miniatures of themselves. Imagine that! I've thought of this happening before and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. It's one of the most oddly amusing subjects you can think of, especially given the accuracy of the miniatures to what has just arrived on our fair world. A nuke is still a nuke and would likely blow the marine landing party to hell. Then all of the worlds military installations would likely get bombarded from orbit. The world would be forcibly converted within a handful of generations and we would become just another hive world. Interesting to think about though. I love your take on the DA approach by the way. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204799-imagine-this/#findComment-2442367 Share on other sites
Brother Martemis
i for one welcome our new lords and masters i must say i have thought of this before (usually when linkin park or something similar comes on my ipod), the idea of trying to explain to an inquisitor im not a witch and shouldn't be burned, but have a little figure of him and know about his future than any seer would... tickles me... :) to be fair, they would find games workshop and send inn the witch hunters if there were too many similarities Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204799-imagine-this/#findComment-2442784 Share on other sites
Captain Juan Juarez
Aslong as they purge Goto and ban and burn all Swallow Blood Angels work as heretical fiction, then I'm fine with it!
