All-Round Defence

You can reserve any FA choice in ARD, and anything that Deep Strikes, so Typhoons are totally viable, as they can also enter from any table edge - so it's totally possible to pick a safe entry zone.

The disadvantage is that they won't be on table from turn 1, and my plan was to maximise first turn firepower. But one or two would certainly not be a disadvantage.

Then we agree perfectly, Koremu. :D

I admit your mission is rather a difficult one, and I don't find good options beside footslogging. For what you think to take in supplement of your already chosen units, I would take librarian and pew pew termies with assault cannon. I don't know for the HF: it seems a good idea, but what if you're in a position you can't use it because, for example, you're charged by beasts with a 12' charge range ? Your AC, on the other hand, will serve for certain.

I played this exact scenario against nids as well, but we were up to 1750.\

My list looked something like this:

10 Terminators w/2 Cyclone Launchers (4 Strength 8 Missiles are deadly to any nids)

10 Sniper Scouts with Telion and Missile Launcher

5 Sniper Scouts with HB

Chapter Master w/Combi-Melta, Relic Blade, Artificer Armour and Hellfire Rounds

- 5 man Honour Guard with Bolters and Relic Blades

10 Close Combat Scouts - Sergeant with Combi-Flamer

10 Bolter Scouts with Heavy Bolter

Land Speeder Storm with Heavy Flamer

- Crew had combi-flamer and CC weapons

2 Whilrwinds

It was a great list - Scout and Infiltrate did not apply in this scenario.

The Terminators were the game changer for sure. When my opponent placed his Trygon on the table, it was gone quickly. The 4 Kraks, Telion's Squad ML, a shot of Plasma from the Master and a 2+ Poisoned template made short work of it. The Honour Guard and Master dominated a Carnifex, while the Whirlies killed the Genestealers (my first target priority.)

The Termies also killed 3 Zoanthropes, 4 Warriors and a few others.

If you drop the combat scouts, you'd be at roughly 1500.

It was a fun scenario, one I'd love to play again.

10 Terminators are the bomb!

When is this game scheduled? I'd be interested in a battle report

Called off, sadly :D

Very interesting thread though.

I would have very much liked to play this, as the prospect of a demi-company on the table isn't one you see much any more.
