My standard set up for TWC is:

 

Canis + 5 more TWC.

 

Canis (As is, no FW's)

 

2 with Plasma Pistols

 

2 With Bolt Pistols

 

1 with a magnetized Wolf Claw or Thunderhammer, depends on what I am facing.

 

3 Storm shields.

 

2 melta bombs.

 

This provides enough variation for wound allocation nonsense so they cant be insta-gibbed (Barring a Str 10 failed save)

 

The best ANYONE has been able to do against them, is a wound on each and killing 2. Over 7 turns. They are TOUGH CUSTOMERS. Usually, I still have all of them remaining by the end of the game.

To take advantage of his I 5, I use a Thunderwolf Lord and 2 Thunderwolf Cavalry as his bodyguard. They are nearly always the heroes of the battle. I have had some really poor dice rolls that have left them dead, but only after doing some serious damage. Even if they don't kill equal to their points cost, they have protected my GH's and distracted the enemy, giving me the advantage in my games. Here's how they are equipped:

 

265 pts

Wolf Lord

Frost Blade

Storm Shield

Runic Armor

Thunderwolf Mount

Wolf Tooth Necklace

Saga of the Bear

 

195 pts

2 x Thunderwolves

2 x Storm Shields

Thunderhammer

Meltabombs

You can always employ the "super unit" whch involves at least one WL + Canis + 2-5 TWC + 15 Fenrisian Wolves.

 

Actually if you go with 2 WL+Canis+15FW then you don't have need of the TWC. Either unit will kill anything on the board while drawing most (all) of the opponents attention.
