PH34RB0T
So, after sending a few emails to Games Workshops customer service, this is what I end up with... Hello there. I'm just writing to convey my disappointment with the lack of Allies rules in Codex: Daemonhunters and Codex: Witchhunters, as well as the removal of the Inducted Units rules from Codex: Daemonhunters. Now, I'm relatively new to the hobby, but I recently picked up a copy of the Ravenor Omnibus, and after I finished reading it, I wanted nothing more than to add some Inquisitorial elements to my Space Marine army. In fact, I was planning on repainting my force as the Exorcists chapter just for all the super-fluffy fun. But now that plan is off. But enough of my complaining; I have a few questions... 1) Are there any plans to update the two codecii, adding the rules that were left out? 2) If the answer to 1 was no, is there any hope for Inquisitorial love in the future, or will the line continue to be neglected. 3) Does the new .pdf version of the codex overrule the paper version? They're technically the same codex (the have the same copyright date and everything), but what is GW's official stance? ph34rb0t Ph34rb0t! I do not know of any plans to re-release either codex. I do apologize. Thanks! Thank you for your quick answer, but you still failed to answer question #3. Does the .pdf version count as a new codex version, or are people still allowed to Ally/Induct troops so long as they have the paper version? Or is there no official standpoint? And the final answer... As far as I know of, that would be up to you and your opponent and for tournaments, it will be up to the tournament organizer. Thanks! Now, I realize that this doesn't permanently solve the problem, but it does show that GW isn't explicitly stating that the .pdf is a new version of the codex. Daedalus Templarius
This also came out of GW as a reply to someone over at Dakka Flag this messageDemonhunters and Witchhunters in the Ardboyz finalsThursday, June 24, 2010 8:44 AMFrom: "Brendan Bell" <brendan.bell@games-workshop.com>Add sender to ContactsTo: undisclosed-recipientsHello, There have been a number of questions regarding Demonhunters and Witchhunters and allies for the 2010 40K Ard Boyz Finals. The Finals will use the printed rules that were used in the first two rounds; you will be able to use allies. Thanks, Brendan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204969-allied-troops-might-still-be-possible/#findComment-2444605 Share on other sites
number6
And the final answer...As far as I know of, that would be up to you and your opponent and for tournaments, it will be up to the tournament organizer. Thanks! Now, I realize that this doesn't permanently solve the problem, but it does show that GW isn't explicitly stating that the .pdf is a new version of the codex. To the contrary, the response implicity says that the new codexes are official. Because using allies/inductions is purely "up to you and your opponent". And for tournaments, "up to the tournament organizer". You wouldn't have to make an agreement with your opponent or appeal to a TO if the RAW hadn't changed, would you? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204969-allied-troops-might-still-be-possible/#findComment-2445482 Share on other sites
Zode
I'm not so sure about that. Reading the different responses players have gotten and posted throughout the forums it sounds to me like the GW staff aren't quite sure themselves and would rather just wash their hands of it by leaving it up to players and tourny organizers. Maybe they originally intended for the PDF to replace the book and then between player anger and mixed e-mail replies they decided to back out and say "it's up to you?" Maybe not. The world may never know, but for now it seems it's up to you and your gaming group to decide what's "official." Inquisitor Fox
I just checked again and the WH PDF has had Induction removed in a reformating. :) It's official, we're on our own two feet. boreas
Well, at least WH hunters are playable by themselves. Still, they could have edited the rhino prices, etc... I think by now my opinion of GW is quite clear :) Phil Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204969-allied-troops-might-still-be-possible/#findComment-2445581 Share on other sites
