Winterseven
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a long time Space Wolf fan and have been modelling and painting Space Wolves ever since second edition. I dont make a habbit of knocking GW or our beloved Wolves but I cant help but feel that the Wolf Scout bits in the Space Wolves Pack were really quite weak compared to the rest of the stuff on the frame, and indeed the other models we got in first wave (which i think all look ace!). I still think that some of the best looking scouts were the ones Jess Goodwin did for second edition and i'd really like to see something likes this in the second wave as the current scout torsos and legs just all seem very static to me. Does anyone else feel that more could have been done to make the Scouts more wolfy?? S. Bloodhowl
For me it's not just that their not wolfy enough, but also that they are to small for my liking. The smallness fits in with codex scouts, but ours a full grown battle brothers and need to be beefier, like putting a Catachan on steroids! For mine, I'm planning on converting them from a mix of Catachan Guard and Space Wolf bits, a bit like Wolf Lord Mjolnir's ones (sorry no pics). But yeah, i do like the 2nd ed. ones Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204988-wolf-scout-models/#findComment-2444828 Share on other sites
Winterseven
Bloodhowl, that was also my line of thinking. I'd really be interested in seeing other peoples interpretations of Wolf Scouts as apart from Artwork I can't seem to find any. I'll try and check out Wolf Lord Mjolnir's Scouts at some stage!! The_Betrayed_Spacewolf
the jess godwin are those the old shotgun ammo everywhere models? or are they the mohawk scout models? Tyleesa
Catachan are great for the conversion purpose indeed. Yet I believe their arms are too smooth for our guys. A tiny bit of greenstuff fur will do it though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204988-wolf-scout-models/#findComment-2444955 Share on other sites
Freman Bloodglaive
the jess godwin are those the old shotgun ammo everywhere models? or are they the mohawk scout models? There were some very nice Wolf Scout Sergeants released in second edition. I have three of them (unfortunately cut the bolt pistol off one and gave him a meltagun in third, thinking about it I shouldn't have). CainTheHunter
Here are some mine conversions which I did for Librarium Painting Challenge, also inspired by Darkseer's blog above. I am expanding their pack to full size of 10 + WG, with WUlfen, "medic" - just a guy with the Cadian med-kit backpack (no effect in terms of game like with the vox-caster scout, just a guy who is carrying the med-staff) and second power weapon. Winterseven
It was the Scout Sergeants I was referring to as mentioned above! I too had at least two of them, but managed to loose them when I moved out of my parents place! Really annoying but I think we need something like those again! I have a box of Chaos Marauders here so i might try and kit bash something to see how they look. hendrik
use the normal grey hunter heads on them instead of the scout ones. it immediatly makes them look older and harder :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204988-wolf-scout-models/#findComment-2445395 Share on other sites
Xeenos
I think im just going to use my 13th Company Wulfen figures for my scouts. The figure has less armor, which explains the lower save.. but their just as mean as a normal marine.. just ALOT faster given they come in from your lines.. but they do it lost sometimes >_> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204988-wolf-scout-models/#findComment-2445409 Share on other sites
Beef
I dont use the scouit heads, they are even more ugly than the normal SW heads we now get. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/204988-wolf-scout-models/#findComment-2445631 Share on other sites
