Wolfsrage
Long story short, I used to frequent this board many, many years ago. At the time the EoT codex came out, I had a Space Marine army and a Death Guard army. However, after reading it, I absolutely loved the EoT and ended up putting together a 1500 point force of 13th Co. and bought some of the uber-cheap "Mutant" packs to use as LatD with CSM Allies. <_< I'll try not to digress. My army was a Wolf Lord on a Bike with a Frost Weapon, 4 Stormclaw Bikers, a Rune Priest, 10 Wulfen, 2 x 10 Grey Slayers (2 Meltas, and a Thunder Hammer Sergeant), 2 x 10 Fenrisian Wolves, and a pack of 5 Long Fangs with 4 Missile Launchers. It actually performed quite well in the short time I ran it, but eventually I moved on because it got too redundant to play. Also, it became apparent the army was never going to receive an update. I did enjoy those first turn charges though. ;) I actually purchased the old SW codex and gave that a go. I tried to run as regular SWs for a few games with the addition of my regular SM models. That worked decently, but I really didn't see the point in switching from my regular SMs. Eventually, I sold my original Space Marine army (including the Storm Claw Bikers that I had been using with them). Last night, I managed to find the following under my bed: 1 Wolf Lord on foot with Lightning Claws (one is snapped off... :() 1 Rune Priest 1 Wolf Lord on Bike with Frost Blade 10 Wulfen (already had those laying around to sell  ) 2 x 10 Grey Slayers (2 Meltas each and a leader with Thunder Hammer) 2 x 10 Fenrisian Wolves 3 Long Fangs with Missile Launchers With that said, I'm kind of getting an itch to give the army a go for fun. :P However, is this anything remotely viable under the current SW codex? If I were to try to use the old EoT codex, would that simply be outdated and get crushed? I should note that I still own the EoT Codex and old SW codex. Thanks in advance. Hfran Morkai
I would say that's a great start! You've got a Rune Priest for your HQ (The others will likely be in larger games) and two good units of Grey Hunters. I would add one of those Wulfen models to each pack of Grey Hunters to make it ten men plus the potential for a Wolf Guard (the dude with Thunder Hammer) If I were you I would purchase a Devastator box and a Wolf pack in order to make some Long Fangs and some more Wolf Guard (you'd need a minimum of three to take them as leaders/a pack of their own or both. Definitely seems like you could have fun with it, some transport might be a safe bet in order to close with the enemy quicker and maybe some Plasma toting Grey Hunters. Using the EoT codex I reckon you'd do better, due to everything having Scout, however this will probably mean people will be reluctant to play games with the EoT codex. Wolfsrage
Thanks for the reply. I just realized that I forgot to mention I found 3 of the Missile Launcher Long Fangs. I have no idea where the leader went. I know the 4th ML went with the regular Space Marines. I added them to the list above. I have 3 Chaos Rhinos (and a couple other vehicles) I could always use to Proxy. Wolfsrage
I've gone ahead and picked up the codex. I plan to order a Space Wolf Pack monday. ;) Any other advice? Anyone else? Hymirl
Are you still planning to follow 13th company style of fluff? Fielding infantry marines isn't that bad, it would be a good idea to think about having lots of long fangs and ideally a couple of squads of wolf scouts to help negate the disadvantages of not having much in the way of vehicles. Bear in mind that the current codex makes you choose between that thunderhammer and the extra special weapon, you have to have ten guys for that and adding a wolf guard makes too many to ride in a rhino or drop pod. Wolfsrage
I had intended to use the army as regular Space Wolves. :) I really don't want a foot-slogging list at all. CainTheHunter
Btw, those Wulfen models tend to go for ridiculously high prices on e-bay. I am using them now as the Mark of Wulfen guys for my regular SW. But yeah, those first turn charges with Fenrisian Wolves were cool :). 13th was my first amy in 40K and I still miss then, though they became a bit redundant with same tactics all the time. Wolfsrage
I needed to order a Defiler arm to add another CCW today anyway, so I'm picking up 2 more Power Fists to replace the Thunder Hammers. I've pretty well settled on the following for 1000: Space Wolves - 1000 Rune Priest - JotWW, Living Lightning 5 Wolf Scouts - Meltagun, 2 Plasma Pistols 3 Wolf Guard - 3 w/ Power Fist / Bolt Pistol 8 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, 1 w/ Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino 9 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, 1 w/ Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino 9 Grey Hunters - Meltagun, 1 w/ Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino 5 Long Fangs - 4 Missile Launchers Total - 999 I'll be trying to get my hands on some Wolf Scouts. I like how you have to buy a Meltagun & Plasmagun together. I'm completely lost as to where to go for 1500. Suggestions? Are Heavy Bolter Long Fangs viable? Should I add Thunderwolf Cavalry & Fenrisian Wolves? How many HQs? Also, am I basically going to have to try to "spread my wolf bitz around" between the Wolf Pack and Devastators? Requiem of the Wolf
I would recommend 3 rhinos for your next step. After that, another 2 missile launchers,2 lascannons and 2 Heavy bolters. That way you can have two squads of long fangs, one with 2 Lascannon 3 Missile Launcher, the other with 2 heavy bolters and 3 missile launchers. Maybe a pair of Razorbacks for the two long fang squads. After that a Whirlwind and you should be just about set for 1500,and have all the Fire power you need. I'll be using my Chaos Rhinos for now. ;) However, purchasing additional Rhinos is on the list. I kind of dread creating a 2nd Long Fang squad as Missiles are so difficult to come by. :P Thank goodness I'll have 4 already. Last night, I won 6 Scouts on Ebay (1 Meltagun, 2 Plasma Pistols). That helps my collection a lot! I've never had a Razorback before. I'll definitely consider that. CainTheHunter
Don't buy Rhinos - get Razorbacks instead. Same model, just swap the hatch. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205028-found-my-old-13th-company/#findComment-2447889 Share on other sites

Agreed, for only a little extra money you get a load of acccessories and by not gluing the hatch in place you can swap it for a turret when you want to. If you really wanted you could even magnetise but normally the hatch or turret ring will sit happily in place as long as the vehicle is up the right way.
