masterchief4312
i just got a new set of space wolves and had a couple questions about painting them. First of all, after you put a basecoat of shadow grey, can you do details and highlights in any color you want? also, what colors are recommended to use in the painting? Hrothgar Beastslayer
The general rule is that you can paint them how you like, as long as its bluish or greyish. details such as wolftail fetishes or teeth are really up to you, bone being my prefered style for the teeth (duh). I also like to put on alot of gold for the armour trim. Hrothgar Beastslayer
yep, just take your time and make sure its clean, no matter how simple the design is a clean paintjob is the best.I also dont suggest really bright colours on wolves, just my preference though, i think it makes htme look silly. If you really want, you could mix shadow grey with either Space wolves grey or codex grey for a highlight. The Son of Russ
well, my wolves are shadow grey base, asurmen blue wash in the recesses. IMO, you would be better off highlighting extreme edges with space wolves grey, and also keep your wolves at a dark grey/blue colour, it infuriates me when a freshly painted batch of wolves look like they just came from looney tunes. Skirax
I like to highlight with Ice Blue, but at the moment I am making Wolf Brothers, so I do my Wolves in the livery of the Legion of old. Basically, Shadow Grey, Badab Black, Codex Grey, Badab Black again. S. Bloodhowl
I paint mine with like so: Basecoat Shadow Grey Badab Black wash Reapply the Shadow Grey to all but the recesses Highlight 2/1 Shadow Grey/Codex Grey Highlight further with 1/1 Shadow Grey/Codex Grey Edge highlight with 1/2 Shadow Grey/ Codex Grey Glaze (heavily) twice with Devlan Mud The only special thing is that i highlight where the light would come from, not on every edge.
