Malus Trux
How else are Land Raiders deployed? I know it says that Thunderhawk Transporters drop the behemoths into combat but on pg 9 of the BA dex it says the entire chapter has THREE of them. So either this is a typo, a gross over sight or these are the most overworked, under appreciated & most efficient Marine pilots in the entire Imperium. Alternatively there's other transport options besides Transporters. Does anyone know of any?
spu00sed
There is the even more ovelooked Space Marine Landing Craft. Capable of deploying 4 Landraiders or 6 smaller tanks as well as 60 battle brothers. So I am thinking Typo.
Sanguinarian
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' TRANSPORTERS!!! Our Land Raiders jump right out of the landing bays of our Strike Cruisers once they reach drop altitude. ; )
Meracalis
Baal-pattern Land Raiders are built with special heat shielding, drag chutes, and braking thrusters to allow for deployment via orbital insertion. I wish.

I'd figure that in engagements tanks are only ever deployed after a landing site has been secured (via teleport, drop pod assault etc.). There really isn't need for too many of the TH transporters, one or two per battle barge carrying chapter tanks should be enough. For big engagements, the landing craft is a better option but I'd figure it requires some sort of star-port to land it unlike the TH. But yes, having only 3 of TH transporters does sound a little bad..
Lynnean
yep; it does sound bad. maybe the Stormravens hang some LR's between them? ;)

Inquisitor Kravin
yep; it does sound bad. maybe the Stormravens hang some LR's between them? ^_^ What, on a length of creeper? We've lurched into the territory of Monty Python and the Holy Grail now! Brother Jazzman - great picture! First time I read the Codex I thought GW had messed up on this too. BA specifically get the ability to Deep Strike their Land Raiders because they apparently use their TH transporters to drop tanks into the heart of the battle but then they have only one TH transporter for every 3 companies (ignoring scouts)! I think it's just a case of GW contradicting themselves, again!
Brother Biskit
I think most of the Rhino variant tanks can be deployed under ordinary Thunderhawks (hence the nice dip in the under belly of the Thunderhawk gunship). probably with a team of Techmarines fitting anything that could not be under slung (like Whirlwind Launchers) just behind the main lines. This would leave the Transporters free to carry the heavier Landraiders which would only really be given to larger task forces. Remember that in some of the literature Space Marines don't move out in specific company’s but as groups of one or more battle company's plus attached reserves as a task force. Nope the Landing Craft is a rough-landing combat dropship like the TH, to quote the EPIC Armageddon rulebook: "Space Marine Landing Craft are assault vehicles.. ..Within twenty or thirty seconds of leaving their space craft, and troops vehicles will be on the ground and in the action, supported by the gun batteries mounted on the Landing Craft itself"
