zarnak21 Posted June 27, 2010 Share Posted June 27, 2010 About a month ago I played a 1500 pt game against chaos with a couple of mates. I had 750pts of BA allied with 750pts of Tau. I picked an army of what I had painted at the time: Reclusiarch Death company x 3 - power weapons x2 - rhino Tactical squad x10 - plasma cannon, plasma gun - rhino Devistator squad x 5 - missile launcher x 4 Dreadnaught- plasma cannon I'll admit that this might not seem like the best choices and in an ideal world I would of taken more assault units. But in the end we won despite the dreadnaught being locked in cobat with a jouganaught of korn for about 3 turns and only killing him on the last turn. . . . . For my next game I have to choose 1000 pts to allie with 1000 pts of tau (tau fire warriors, devilfish, and battle suits). The chaos player will take a defiler, predator, plauge marines and plenty of squads in rhinos. To select from I have: Terminator Captain Terminator Chaplain Terminator Lib 5 x LC assault terminators 5 x Terminators flamer 5 x honour gaurd, blood champ, JP, PF and 3xPW Sang P - JP PW Sang P - PW Sang P - PW on bike 10 man tactial PlasC, PlasG 10 man JP assault Melta and Plasma pistol and PF 5 man assault, power weapon - razorback - HB or LasC Death company JP, PWx3, TH and PF 3x bikes plasma, melta and PW Dev squad 4 x missile launcher Dread PLasma Cannon Dread Assault Cannon Land raider standard Thats about it I think. So what would you do? I'm thinking let my tau mate do all the shooting and just load up with power weapons and go down one flank.... . Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
angel of justice Posted June 27, 2010 Share Posted June 27, 2010 with what you have available i would try this Headquaters Librarian or chaplain with jetpack (proxy whatever you wish) attach to jetpack squad Troops 5 assault marines power weapon with heavy bolter turrett + priest with power weapon 10 man assault squad with jet packs + priest with jet pack tactical squad with plasma cannon and plasma gun (with a rhino if you have one) heavy dreadnought assault cannon dreadnought plasma cannon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sun Drinker Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 Get as many power weapons on the table as you can. Letting the Tau player do the shooting isn't a bad idea, as long as you work together. You're going to have to screen for him because he'll crumble when charged by even regular CSM. Make sure anyone not with a jump pack or transport vehicle is posted up with the Tau who won't be moving too much (if you can protect them from being charged). Niiai Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 Well if your are splitting up the responsacilaty then make shure you can take out the power armour. Tau are very good vs everything else but power armourin witch case it is eather overkill or wrong weaponds for the wrong job. Also try to save him from close combat...
