Blindhamster
Alright so today I played my first game in a little over a month, as my sig shows I've had reasonably good success with my BAs since the codex update, about half of those victories are at 500 points the rest at 1500, My list for 1500 hasn't changed at all in any game as I take so long to build the marines in the first place! So anyway, I played against a Codex Marine player using imperial fists I'll surmise his list as I remember it: Lysander Pedro Cantor (counts as) Command squad with flamer, melta, company standard, company champion and apothacary TL Lascannon Razorback with Hunter Killer missile. 10 Sternguard including a p.fist and a couple of combi meltas Drop pod with storm bolter 10 man tactical squad with melta and rocket launcher 10 man tactical squad with lascannon and something else 10 man tactical squad with plasma cannon and something else the something elses are because he never actually used the extra weapons... I used: Captain Tycho (as seen in painting thread) 5 sternguard including p.sword and melta gun sanguinary priest drop pod with storm bolter 10 man tactical squad with p.sword, melta and rocket launcher Rhino 10 man tactical squad with p.fist Plasma gun and plasma cannon Rhino 10 man tactical squad with h.bolter and flamer 5 vanguard with 3 power weapons baal preditor (assault cannon variant) Vindicator as you can see my list is kind of a not thrills list, I prefer my lists to be pretty codex adherent as I think it's fluffy that way ;) We rolled up Vanguard from the Battle missions book with him playing the marine roll of attacker, and me on the defensive The table we used was a little longer than is normal while not as wide, annoyingly not allowing for much manoveurability. I combat squaded all tactical squads placing the special weapon and sergeant along with 3 marines in each rhino, these were deployed between the center table objective whilst the heavy weapon halves with heavy bolter and rocket launcher deployed right ontop of the rear objective. I then deployed my plasma cannon squad in the ruins that the center objective was on while the vindicator was placed next to one of the Rhinos like so: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/deployment.png I roll for Red thirst on the sergeant with a bolter squad, the squad with p.fist and both veteran squads. Due to mission he gets first turn and doesn't deploy anything till then, but all his units are scoring and he comes on from opposite table edge to me. He drops his pod which contains 10 sternguard and Lysander right next to the objective rolling a hit placing them exactly where he wanted them, seeming rather pleased with such a result, the command squad entered the board inside the razorback while the tacitcal squads all moved 6 inches toward the objectives. He was able to fire with two of the Sternguard at my Plasma cannon squad, however they caused no wounds thanks to the cover saves from the terrain they were in, otherwise his first turn was rather uneventful! My own turn was rather more entertaining with my drop pod scattering and landing just northwest of his own, Tycho, priest and sternguard poor out and ready their guns, taking careful aim at their yellow armoured opponents. Meanwhile the vindicator moves forward 12" to just outside the terrain, as do all the rhinos. The Plasma cannon and plasma gun in the forward combat squad shoot the sternguard, plasma gunner blowing his arm off in the process while the plasma gunner kills 2. Tycho and his squad shoot and kill a further 4 with their vengence rounds. The Rhinos all take a shot at the sternguard killing another 1 before the battlecannon of the vinidcator is brought to bear on the remainder, killing all three while Lysander withstands the heavy shell taking cover behind his huge shield before wheeling about to face the expected attack from behind, however this same shell causes the drop pods engines to explode, the radius just far enough to hit the nearest of my own sternguard, shrapnel taking his head off, leaving the priest unable to help the fallen battlebrother. Table looked like so: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/turn1.png Losses end of turn 1: BAs - 1 sternguard 1 tacitcal with plasma gun Fists - 10 sternguard incl sergeant and 2 combi meltas, drop pod Will update this in the morning. along with a report on the tau game I shall be playing :)

Blindhamster
Turn 2 The Imperial fist tacitcal squads move forward to rush to the aid of their captain, the exception to this is the squad bearing the plasma cannon which instead turns its targeters in the direction of the Blood angel drop pod. Meanwhile the Razorback moves forward slowly before the Imperial fist commander and his command squad disembark to better survey the current situation. The Plasma cannon finally charging up lets out a ball of super heated plasma which zips over head and lands directly on target, in this case Tycho, the priest and his sternguard 3 of which are instantly little more than molten slag, worse still the sanguinary priests legs are completely melted leaving him incapacitate, while the Sterguard Sergeant and Tycho quickly dodge to one side: Just in time to see the massive bolt of the imperial fist Razorbacks Lascannon scythe into the side of their drop pod, by some miracle it's armour holds, though there are sparks coming from the on board storm bolter. Tycho looks to the skies expectantly Further up the field Captain Lysander strides into the ruins ready to claim the objective his marines were here for. The Blood angel Vanguard, using the locator onboard the Drop pod make skyfall with shouts to their angelic Primarch. landing only a short distance from Lysander, power swords at the ready. The Rhinos once more move forward at high speed, the forward two dropping off the Decorated Sergeant Gabrial, hefting his power sword. as he exits the armoured APC, opposite the second squad with power fist step from their own Rhino taking stock of the situation. Tycho and his remaining sternguard move quicly toward Lysander not wishing to leave their alliest to fight him alone. At this point the blood angels heavy weapons at the back let lose on Lysander, though he easily deflects Heavy bolter shells and rockets. The Plasma cannon in the same ruins takes aim and fires, the shot however goes wide missing entirely. After everything in the army has fired, Lysander remains tall and proud having taken no injury at all. Tycho shakes his head seeing this and calls for the charge, the 5 Vanguard veterans and the lone sternguard join him and the battle is joined! Tycho strikes hard and fast punching through Lysanders shield and causing impressive dents in his armour considering he uses his bare hands. The power weapons of the Vanguard and sternguard have similar luck finding further chinks in his armour leaving Lysander staggering back but very much alive (down to 1 wound), Lysander Roars in defiance and hefts his mighty hammer before bringing it about in a mighty ark - taking two of the vanguard in a single sweep, though the remaining attacks proove futile as the blood angels skill comes into play, quickly dodging attacks and a similar fate. End of the turn the table looked like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/turn2.png BA Losses so far: 4 sternguard, 1 priest, 2 vanguard and a plasma gunner tactical marine Imperial Fist Losses: 10 Sternguard, 3 wounds on Lysander
Blindhamster
Turn 3 The Imperial Fist Marines continue to advance, though this time it is the squad bearing the Lascannon that holds tight, obviously making use of the cover provided by the Ruins they occupy. The lacannon takes a shot at a rhino but fails to cause any damage. Due to movement the rest of the Imperial fist army do precious little, a few token shots at rhinos but no actual damage to the Blood angel force. The Melee involving Lysander and the blood angels had by this point become a battle between captains, the blood angels stepping back to allow the two more room, it was within moments of this happening that Tycho let out a cry to sanguinius before charging forward, deftly doding the slow swings of the Fists Hammer, before sidestepping the shield and punching with all his strength, such a terrible blow, the sound of cermite and bone both shattering could be heard, followed shorly by the loud thud and sigh as Lysander was laid low by the Blood Angels finest. With this quick end to the combat Tycho and his veterans turn and move forward slowly (consolodating) to get a better view on the Imperial fist forces advancing toward them, one banner quickly stands out, the company banner, a marine next to the Banner would be the next target. The codex astrates speaks of removing the head from the enemy, this was already half done, but now the harder part was to come... There is a loud rumble from the north as The Baal Preditor rumbles onto the battlefield, having manouvered into a position to be as close as possible when it arrived. Meanwhile the rhinos once more advance, one still holding the brother astrates inside. The vindicator similarly moves from its resting place in an effort to be better positioned. Tycho and his veterans surge forward, the Vanguard making good use of their jump packs to get up close as quickly as possible. The squad bearing the power fist moves toward the objective intent on making it secure. Whilst Gabrial and his squad move forward to join the Veterans and his brother captain. The Plasma cannon fires a ball of molten plasma at the Imperial fist unit bearing a rocket launcher killing 4 in the blast. While the rocket launcher of the furthest deployed squads lets forth a krak missile causing the enemy razorback to become immobilised, but sadly little other damage. The Baal Preditors Assault Cannon mows down a single member of the Imperial fist command squad... Once more bloody melee is joined with The Veterans, Tycho and now squad Gabrial charging at the enemy commander and his retinue. The Blood Angels caught in the swings of the red thirst move quicker than the fists can keep up with and slay all but the champion and commander in the initial phase of the combat. (damn wound allocation otherwise the champion would've been dead too ;) ) Tycho also caused a wound on The Fists commander though it was clearly not enough to kill him. In return the enemy champion set about killing all of the vanguard single handedly and Their commander swung his power fist in an arc aimed for Tychos head, the blow should have crushed it to a pulp but the holy relic known as an Iron Halo activated deflecting the blow at the last moment. (unlucky combat rolls here as I had 23 power weapon attacks on that unit as well as 8 normal but failed to kill many, he in return had 3 or 4 from the champion and killed all my vanguard ;)) By end of turn three the table looked like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/blindhamster/turn3.png BA losses: 3 vanguard Imperial fist Losses: 4 command squad members, Lysander, 1 wound on Kantor and 4 brother marines
