When fluff goes crazy

Recommended Posts

I have some spare Dark Angels vets bits as I bought the DA Vets for the robed bodies for another project. I decided to add a bit of variety to my Wolf Guard by giving one of them a few minor Dark Angels trinkets. I considered two possible scenarios – trophies taken from a DA body after DAs clashed with Imperial Guard who got in their way and Space Wolves stepped in to support the Guard or honours given as tokens of friendship following a joint campaign. I started sketching out ideas around a Wolf and an Angel representing their chapters in the traditional duel at the start of a joint campaign, the Wolf wins but in the ensuing campaign the Angel saves the Wolf’s life. Loathe to be indebted to his rival the Wolf fights hard to repay the debt and so eventually a bond is forged.

It’s funny how these ideas snowball, next I find myself imagining that it’s actually a Ravenwing sergeant and a Wolf Guard on bike and realize I’ve got myself a classic mismatched buddy road movie scenario! I’m not using this last bit of the idea but it made me laugh when I realized where I’d ended up.

Have you ever found your fluff unintentionally veering into comedy territory?

Who would you cast as the Dark Angel and the Space Wolf in my movie scenario?

"You know" - I do. The problem is that in my fluff the Dark Angel saves the Wolf's life. If the Wolf is played by Chuck Norris then the idea that there is something that can overcome Chuck Norris's aura of awesomeness but be stopped by a Dark Angel just doesn't stand up.

Yeah, You are probably right. I can imagine Chuck in Power Armor taking on Chaos Titans with his powerfist.

:P

In one post Cain the Hunter turned my thread into a 40k version of Chuck Norris facts. Here goes then:

Bjorn the Fell-handed - the Wolf Priests believe that he is protected by fate as he has a great destiny - this is in fact true. In the last great battle of Ragnarok Bjorn the Fell-Handed will bear witness to the fight between the only two other surviving beings - The Emperor vs. Chuck Norris.
