Gubnutz Da Grim
I have been working on my Thousand sons but they are taking some time to get painted. That being said there is a tournament at the end of August at my LGS and I would like to go. I like to play fully painted though and I do not think I can get the TSons painted by that time. I have been trading for and amassing a huge amount of Nurgle Demons though so I figured I would try and get them ready for the table. I figure this will help me stay motivated. So the Descent into Chaos Daemons begins. The plan is pretty simple. I intend to field a tallyman list with Ku'Gath at the lead. I have all of the figs I need to field the list just a matter of getting them ready to be fielded. On the que are the following models Ku'Gath played by the Forgeworld GUO model Epidemus 42 Plaguebearers might go to 49 not 100% sure at this point 3 Winged Demon Princes So far I have cleaned up 14 PB and they are ready to be primed. I also started on a DP conversion using an Ogre, Mino head, some GS, brass rod, and a bit of sprue to rep a Scythe. Granted he does not get to pick his weapon but I find that the flails and scythes fit the army well. Intend to update regular and see if I can get this done. Pics of the DP WIP so this can actually count as a work in progress post. http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l129/gubnutz/Nurgle/NurgleDPWIP.jpg http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l129/gubnutz/Nurgle/NurgleDPCloseUp.jpg http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l129/gubnutz/Nurgle/NurgleDPSide.jpg Gub Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205331-descent-into-chaos-daemons/ Share on other sites
Dorns Templar
I like the DP conversion. The head fits the Ogre body well. My only doubt is the scythe blade. It looks to thick and uneven. Plasticard would make a better blade if you can get some. Good work so far though! Gubnutz Da Grim
It is kinda thick. I actually have some Pcard but was thinking that uneven and thick worked forthe Nurgle theme. It is not glued at the moment and I might try and shave it down to a more defined blade as I work on it. If not then I could go with the Pcard. I made some progress on the force as I got the first 14 PBs primed today and will start on the color laying tonight. These will set the standard for the force and will show me how much time I can spend on the bigger things like the FW Great Unclean One. I have another Ogre with Mino head that I am working on attaching a flail with some bells to for a weapon. Then of course I will be using the GW Nurgle DP as the third DP. Need to get some carrion wings though as they just work. As far as the DP conversion goes, what would anyone suggest for some Armor, I figure to show the 3+ armor gift I will need to add something. I was thinking that some Marine Shoulder pads would add to the idea of armor but am open to suggestions. Gubnutz Da Grim
OK did some work tonight and got 14 of the PB basecoated and the rotting flesh Drybrush started. I also worked on the second DP. This one was a bit tricky. I used the Ogre body again, but this time went for a different head. Used the Ogre Butcher head and tried to greenstuff over to give the impression of a single eye. Added a single horn from a CSM head and dual curved ironfists. Still need some wings on both of them. Also taking some advice I trimmed the scythe down so it is much thinner. Gubnutz Da Grim
Ok I have about 2 hours in these 14 guys from priming to this. I have not based them yet and might go in with some rust effects on the blades. I also think I will pick out the yes but all in all they are table top once based. Pretty pleased with the time line and this means i have plenty of time to get them ready to go by August. 28 more to go. dlfleetw
Good progress on the plague bearers. I am really interested in the progress of the second daemon prince ( his head/face looks very promising ) I think, the scythe on the first prince would benefit with some major girth (larger/wider blade.) Muskie
I've been painting Nurgle demons again, to try them out in that other GW game. Mine all have square bases as that is how they came back in the day, which allowed me to rank them up in a nice big Horde. People already want me to paint more, but I think I'll hold at 40 for a while as I have to finish my actual Astronomi-con Vancouver army.
