Ufthak
+++ CAREFUL! +++ +++ SPOILER ALERT FOR: HORUS HERESY SERIES +++ Hey guys! Having read "Thousand Sons" as well as "Blood Games" and "False Gods", a thought struck me. Now, when Russ & Valdor with the Wolves, Custodians and the Sisters attack Prospero, neither they nor the Emperor appear to have an inkling of Horus' betrayal. Ahriman shows the Rune-Priest Wyrdmake the truth, and he is shocked by it; additionally, it is hinted that Horus urged Russ to go in guns blazing. Also, the Warp Storms haven't started yet, allowing the Wolves free travel to Prospero. Right. Now comes the strange part. In "Blood Games", it appears that Valdor and the Custodian Amon have yet to go to Prospero with the Wolves, but EVERYONE seems to know about Horus' betrayal - indeed, the Imperial Palace is being prepared for war by Dorn and the Imperial Fists. All this just doesn't fit together. Once again it appears that the Black Library authors got it all wrong with consistency. I think most of them are good writers, especially Abnett, but they really blunder when it comes to staying consistent... Or am I not getting something here? increaso
This point was raised when the 'Blood Games' story first came out. Not sure how BL with smooth out any consistency, but i have faith they will. Maybe Dan Abnett's take on the Prospero Siege will shed some light on things. Dark Mechanicum
Remember, when Prospero is attacked, Dorn already knows of the betrayal and so the Custodies probably also know. Not telling Russ is probably that: Lets not have get so angry he goes after Horus on his own. Bigger-than-Jesus
I have to say I don't really see that. Blood games never gave me an impression of time at all, and could have happened in any one of the nine years the heresy spanned, while Prospero happened at the start of the heresy. Not to say you're wrong, I just can't see it myself. Rogue Trader Voril
It has been a while since I read Blood Games, but did they ever mention that the construction to the palace was Heresy related? Was the palace ever fully completed prior to the Heresy? Or was it like the crusade , still on going? Dorn got recalled just before Horus fell to chaos, and I'm pretty sure it was considering the time he had to finish it in. Ufthak
The way I understood it was that Russ's Force of Wolves, Custodians and Sisters were stuck in the vicinity of Prospero or in the Warp or in combat with the Alpha Legion due to the Warp Storms until the last few hours of the Siege of Terra - which means Valdor (and Amon, as he supposedly went to Prospero too) could impossibly have returned to Terra in time to be there for the storyline of "Blood Games". Also, I know of no sources which state that Dorn knew of the Betrayal before the Assault on Prospero - except Blood Games. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story, it was GREAT...but inconsistent nonetheless. sponsra
Interesting. I think the timeline in the novels can be hard to grasp, they're jumping so much back an forth. Has anyone tried to make a timeline with the main events? Would be cool to se an overview on in wich order the stuff in the books happens...
