LordofDeath11
I just kitted out my first 10 man jump pack assault squad w/flamer + melta gun(also hand flamer and PF) and am about to do the same with another(except infernus pistol/PW for sarge). I don't have alot of gaming experience and just need the opinion of some more veteran gamers on whether it would be better to put both flamers and both melta guns in each squad or to do what I have done and split them up, ultimately giving my squad more tools to deal with any situation. Of course there is the advantage of concentrated fire with the other option but I am thinking versatility would be the smarter way to go. Am I right or wrong? Or neither. Renik
i would suggest you combine melta into one and flamers into the other as there will be tiems when you will not combat squad the unit which emans oen of teh guns will end up beign useless. While if there all in same squad you can combat squad them then have one 5 man flamer squad go along with a 5 man melta squad to help each other. Only certin untis can pull of being jack of all trades well devs with missle launchers obviosu example
Roachboy
i think renik is spot on there, my assault squads are either 2 x melta + fist, or 2 x flamer +PW.
Redo
I pretty much always run my assault squads in groups of 10 and have been running with Powerfist, Infernus Pistol, Melta Gun and Flamer. Gives me some versatility and the cost of the wargear is only 10 points higher then the Powerfist, 2xMelta. Sometimes, though I find the 3" 2D6 Penetration of the Infernus pistol to be not sufficient. Generally though the 6" Standard range is fine. Afterall when I shoot, I plan to assault do it makes sense that I am within 6".
Morticon
Im a big fan of mixed roles. I prefer to keep my enemy guessing and have tools to deal with any situation.
Grey Mage
Meltas and flamers work suprisingly well together because they are both assault weapons- just remember, if you dont take the second melta its alot less reliable at killing enemy armor, as your chance of missing or not penetrating at all goes up significantly.
