Fire Lord Captain
not much to comment or crit on yet apart from the "Legio" part in the chapters name. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205461-the-armata-explorante/#findComment-2450864 Share on other sites
Ferrata
Legio would imply Legion size or legio as in together. Besides that, why Explorante? It isn't really a Marines duty to explore, more kill and then explore the guts of the enemy :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205461-the-armata-explorante/#findComment-2450920 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
"Explorante" immediately brought to mind the AdMech "Magi-Explorator." If the Space Marines are exploring the galaxy- instead of scouting it in search of worlds to cleanse with fire and blood, and immediately CLEANSING this world with FIRE and BLOOD- they might as well do it to fulfill ancient pacts between the AdMech and their Chapter, and strengthen the domination of Man. (I had a similar idea in Task Force Condor.) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205461-the-armata-explorante/#findComment-2451438 Share on other sites

Shinzaren
The Exploratory Armada? With a Quarian portait ;) I'm on to your wiles haha. I think it's fantastic! Of course, I could way off the mark haha, but that was my first thought. Either way, I think more chapters need to go Yellow, its such a badass color on Power Armored marines. The Quarian
@Shinzaren;Only some select areas are quarian. Most is actually based on the COMPAGNIA EXPLORANTE (colonial company) of the WW2 italian military but you are corecct in that the are several quarian references Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205461-the-armata-explorante/#findComment-2452265 Share on other sites
Shinzaren
I was just teasing you a bit haha. I'm a HUGE Mass Effect/Bioware fan, so I immediately thought of the connection. I think its a great idea, meshing perfectly with the ideals of the 40k Universe. Bjorn Firewalker
Interesting choice of Chapter symbol. Are you intentionally trying to associate the Armata Explorante with Fascists (see here), or with WWII-era brownshirts? The Quarian
Oh gosh no that would just be offensive. it was also the symbol used by the ww2 era itallian military. Like the japanese rising sun. If you can think of more a suitible one I would genuenly consider it. Bjorn Firewalker
I'm not offended by symbols of Italian Fascism. Then again, I'm Chinese. As for alternate symbols, how about the Ensign of the Regia Marina (pre-WWII Italian Navy)? The flag of Venice- a winged lion holding a sword- as it appears on the Naval Jack of Italy? The Quarian
@Marshal2Crusade...-I beg o differ most of the HIGH GOTHIC language is an exact copy of the latin language and even if that wasnt an option there are near infinete variations of LOW GOTHIC spread across the imperium :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205461-the-armata-explorante/#findComment-2454409 Share on other sites

Lt. Smash
I hope you are 'cause this seems great. Just wondering though, will there be, for example, in the role of First Company Veterans, Carabinari? Or Belsigari (probably spelt wrong) as the Scout (10th) as I believe that they preformed a similar role in the world wars. Also they always ran or jogged or something and never marched or walked while in uniform. Cause if you don't use these I might... Grey Hunter Ydalir
While I like the way the theme is going and the left-of-field italian influence, I'm not terribly fond of the colour scheme. The only reason is that it reminds me far too strongly of the Imperial Fists. A little more deviation would go a long way in my opinion. The Quarian apparently intends to model the Chapter on the WWII Italian Army, so how about a camouflage pattern incorporating brown diamonds (see the Sidewinder) or brown spots (see Peringuey's adder)?
