order the primarchs were found in?

Pigeons

Logic would suggest that those found closer to Terra would be discovered sooner rather than later. Corex landed on a world that had already joined the imperium, or so I remember reading some place. Dorn was found some 40 or more years after he landed in the Inuwit cluster. Fulgrim was Night Haunters mentor. Lorgar was found after Magnus since Mangus was with the emperor at the meeting. Theres a fair few of these little bit around. Some day we may have enough to compleate the order.

Legion listing has no connection to when the Primarchs where found.

The list goes like this:

1st) Horus

here) stuff

Last) Alpharius

I doubt they will release an exact timeline as they would force them to mention the 2 unkown primarch's and thats just bad.

This is probably Overly Simplistic but by Looking at the distance from Terra (as the crow flies) and the small amount of known information presented the following seems to be a possible starting point;

Possible Order

Horus - Cthonia

Magnus - Prospero

Leman Russ - Fenris

Jaghatai Khan - Chogoris

Lion'el Johnson - Caliban

Vulkan - Nocturne

Sanguinius - Baal

Corax - Deliverance

Roboute Guilliman - Macragge

Alpharius - ?

Unknown

Angron - ?

Conrad Kurze - Nostramo

Ferrus Manus - Medusa

Fulgrim - Chemos

Lorgar - Colchis

Mortarion - Barbarus

Perturabo - Olympia

Rogal Dorn - Inwit

from reading tales of heresy i get the impression that the Lion was found very late in the crusade

check these lines from "Call of the Lion":

"in the early years the forces of the Great Crusade had met with huge success, bringing the imperial truth to hundreds of worlds in the relatively densely populated systems around Terra. Here, in the yawning chasm between spiral arms, such colonies had always been sparse, and through the isolation of the Age of Strife it was possible that none at all had survived."

now this gives us a good established time line, seeming to indicate that the story takes place well into the Great Crusade, probably just before the time of Istvaan III.

now combine that with this tidbit:

"Astelan knew nothing of Belath, but these days that was not surprising. The massive influx of warriors into the Legion following the rediscovery of Caliban meant that there were many commanders who had never met each other, tossed together on task forces and in warzones all across the galaxy."

the two together would seem to imply that the story takes place late in the Crusade, and that Caliban, and thus the Lion, were only recently discovered.

but maybe i'm reading way too much into that.

edit: you're wrong about some others, too. from the last story in tales of heresy "after desh'ea", we learn that both vulkan and perturbo were found before angron, although it doesn't specify which order the two were found in. the order they TALK about them is vulkan and then perturbo, but that's just the way the story flows, doesn't mean they came in that order. could have been perturbo first and then vulkan five primarchs later for all we know.

also, the world eaters were originally called the war hounds, and back when vulkan and perturbo were found they were STILL called the war hounds. which leads me to think vulkan and perturbo were found fairly early on.
