Alfhedil
Rough draft of the IA: Name: The Valhallan Consortium/The Valhallans Chapter Master: Saul Kal'Thresh Gene-Seed: Rogal Dorn, via Black Templars Combat Doctrine: Ranged warfare through heavy use of Tac squads and Devastators. Willing to consolidate ground in order to prevent losses, sometimes seen as cowardice by other chapters. Beliefs: Extreme dislike of Psykers/Chaos in general. Much to the chagrin of the Templars, their record of Xenos battles seems lacking, in that battles with the Tau have been reduced to almost nothing since the Damocles Crusade. Other things of note: Enjoys close ties with an Ultima Segmentum Forgeworld near the Damocles Gulf, in that they have been able to modify their own patterns of bolters. They seem to have a low number of Chaplains for a chapter at fighting strength, and have been repeatedly questioned by both Inquisition and Astartes allies as to the reason. They do not have a homeworld, instead choosing to be as the Black Templars and maintain a battle-fleet around the Eastern Fringe. (Standard Marine without honours:) http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/7386/valhallansmbeta2.jpg (A Battle-Brother with full honours and Valhallan -Pattern Shredder-Bolter((Credits to Battle-Brother Attila the Thunderfist))) http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk13/DAttila/DSC01728.jpg Battle-Honours: Differing from other chapters, battle-brothers have to earn the right to wear the insignia of the chapter. Choosing to instead mount the aquilla upon the shoulder-guard and mark the emblem upon the chest-plate, the Valhallans earn gradual steps to the chapter symbol, finally ending in veteran status and the ability to add the Templar cross to their chest-plate. As such the Valhallans treat their chapter symbol with honour beyond that of most other chapters, sometimes throwing aside all reason to wreak vengeance on a foe who has desecrated the symbol upon their chest-plate. Comments/Critiques are welcome, as this is a work in progress of the first stage. Heru
Valhalla is already a world in 40k canon, and it's pretty heavily involved in the fluff as the home of the Valhallan Imperial Guard regiments. So unfortunately your Chapter name doesn't work, sorry. Very cool colour scheme though. Alfhedil
I'm very aware of the existence of the world Valhalla, and while I recognize the potential dismay of those who blanch at the prospect of a very widely used word being used for two different things at the same time, the Imperium is a big place. So I dismiss your normally valid argument with my own. Any other comments/concerns? In the midst of my mini-rant I completely forgot the compliment on my color choices. I thank you for both however, in that without either such insights, such a place as this wouldn't exist. Shinzaren
Perhaps instead of calling your Chapter the Valhallans, you could call them the Sons of Valhalla, Warriors of Valhalla, Valhallan Warriors, etc etc. You keep your name mostly intact, while working around the existence of The Valhallans that already exist. Just a thought. I do dig the color's as well though, very nice. Alfhedil
Their actual recorded name is the Valhallan Consortium, the Valhallans part is simply shorthand. Added more pics and backstory on the chapter's symbol. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205554-ia-the-valhallans/#findComment-2452358 Share on other sites
Attila the Thunderfist
Hauling credits for all the artwork done. More will be released once available for public, and existing ones will be updated with additional details. Particularly, the power armor model featuring the Valhallan looped V and the Shredder pattern. Alfhedil
More work on fluff will coincide as well, particularly regarding the Tau. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205554-ia-the-valhallans/#findComment-2453525 Share on other sites
Brother Daeger Helsir
You've got a lovely colorscheme, and looks to be a promising chapter. While I agree with others about the name, it is your chapter, so naming it is up to you. Just keep in mind that when you mention your chapter people WILL, first and foremost and for always, be thinking of the Valhallan Ice Worlders regiment of the Imperial Guard. You will always be saying, "No, not those guys, MY valhallans." It is a hobble and it will likely prove irritating to you at some point. So if you keep with it, consider yourself forewarned, and don't expect any sympathy for your irritation. We did warn you. While I don't like it, there's not much I can do about it as it's a chapter for another forum I administrate. So while I choose to see the name as inflexible, I will understand that everyone else will be inflexible about the name as well.
