MaleOpener
Afternoon. While thumbing through my codex, I pondered and idea. Do you think a Great Company, not of the 12, would be legal? Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/ Share on other sites
Matt D
sure you can. in fluff terms it would fall under the 13th. mabe yours got lost in the warp and has reapeared hundreds of years later... or not. you could just say this is my company and be done with it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/#findComment-2452181 Share on other sites
Casual Heresy
It's your hobby so it is your choice. But do remember that the great companys don't have fixed names, they always have the name of thier current wolflord. For example, before Ragnar Blackmane became a wolflord, the company carried the name of Berek Thunderfist. There have been hundereds of Wolflords. There is nothinhg to stop you doing a company from before the current line up. TiguriusX
I believe the most commonly accepted fluff support would be to call your DIY a "lost company" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/#findComment-2452198 Share on other sites
Bulweih
...or after for that matter. Like stated before, these are your toysoldiers, no other owner of toysoldiers has the right to tell you what to do with them ;) . The usual way would be, making a Wolflord, naming him and maybe write some homemade fluff about him(you could include Gibbs' characteristics here ;) ) and so name his company either after him or his totem for instance. Up to and from here, it's up to you alone really. I don't want to come across rude or like a sexist, but a female Wolflord crosses the line of heresy for me personally. I'm sorry but where did that come from? I didn't see anything asking about whether a female Wolflord is proper or not. I'm sorry but where did that come from? I didn't see anything asking about whether a female Wolflord is proper or not. In the title he said a company of his/ her own. I think it was misinterpereted as making a male or female Wolf Lord instead of a male or female player being able to create their own Great company Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/#findComment-2452230 Share on other sites

Wysten
Aye, I feel it's perfectly fine to create a codex wolf lord. Provided it's timelined before, or after the events. Roaming Space Wolves on a quest of some sort is not unheard of though and probably give a functional reason for fighting loyalists. As for female space wolves, no one can actually stop you. Just make sure it does not have a functional difference and you should be fine. That being said, female space wolves should not be big breasted wonders, they will probably be big fighting machines ready to crush a man a bit like a Thunder Wolf. XD Plus obscured by the armour. I was thinking I could create my own Company, like a homegroan chapter, but I had to be sure. No, folks, I wasn't planning on female marines. Hehe. The title was referring to the sex of the player, as I'm a she-wolf ;) @Bulweih - Gibbs would take the Sea Wolf as his totem, no doubt about it! ... Crap, I now have an idea for a new project! ;) :D Thanks all for the help. Freman Bloodglaive
While I'm not a fan of the female marine concept (males are better built for combat so no one would waste the resources necessary to create a passable female super soldier without some limitation such as that imposed on the Ecclesiarchy) it would be possible (I suppose) to introduce a lost human splinter group where both males and females naturally have much of the bulk and skills necessary to fight in power armour and wield the weapons of a marine. They wouldn't be marines pe se, but they could count as marines in game terms. A high gee world (about 2-3 Earth gravities) where the average male is about 6'6" and 400lbs (normal gravity) and the females about 6'3" and 250lbs. Heightened strength and speed, thicker denser bones, that sort of thing. They wouldn't be supermodels though. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/#findComment-2452445 Share on other sites
Thunderhawk3015
DiY is great if you don't want to paint all that grey. As others have said there is nothing that keeps you from having a lost company or just have a company/chapter that uses the wolves rules to represent their own ideas and whatnot. This game is based around creativity, do whatever and if you want to use wolf rules then go for it. muadib02
It works...my Wolves are painted adeptus battle grey and have followed their wolf lord out of the Fang to a life of piracy because he had a difference of opinion with Logan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205555-a-great-company-of-herhis-own/#findComment-2452471 Share on other sites
Quillen
It's cool man. My guys are a lost company from just after Horus was defeated. I have all beaky heads or helmetless heads. A few of the Wolf Gaurd have the newer helms. All have type 6 armor. My Wolf Lord is Cyric and I use Logan's rules for him. His trusted Adviser is Otha a Rune Priest (Njal) and his Great great Grandson whom I use Ragnar's rules for. They are a lost Company. They struck out on their own and stayed loyal to the Emperor's goals and Russ' just not the new wolf lord. After a ton of adventures and Misadventures they ended up going through a portal to escape a Chaos fleet and now they are 5 thousand years in the future and on the other side of the Galaxy. Lost Campanies are not all traitors. If fact most are not. They sometimes return to the Fang at a later date. So live it up and have some fun. Kalidane
Agree, the easiest way to do this is simply set your Wolflord in an earlier time. My Wolflord is Alarik Nightrunner, who wore the Nightrunner company badge prior to Logan Grimnar using it (as seen in our first codex). I don't see any need whatsoever to make up your own Chapter and background when some rather talented people have spent over a decade doing a fine job for us. Just come up with a name and choose/create a badge. There are more than the 12 currently in use. A simple paint-mod of an existing transfer has to be the easiest way of getting some creative loving. Quillen
I would think warmly if they swear loyalty to the new Great Wolf. Still, it would be hard to merge and have to either step down and swear under another Wolf Lord. Or to have an established Wolf Lord have to swear under him. I could see them being used for side missions and support till a Wolf Lord died and then just taking his slot. The rest of his company merging or going to other companies. Ullr Direfang
were does one think the Direwolves came from??? made up some fluff for them, about 100 to 150 years later then the current codex, so yes a couple current wolf lords are no longer with us but Logan is still around. I even have a data sheet for my Wold lord that still needs some tweaking.
