Ok is this a neat idea

Recommended Posts

Ok,as some might remember,I have been talking about the 200 point campaign thing for a bit. We finally got the rules pretty safely worked out,now we are just doing playtesting till we start up the campaign.

Now the Idea that I wanted to run past you all was the theme for my guys...I was thinking that recreating the group from the 13th warrior would be hilarious.

The only problem is I cant quite work out how to make each one,and what troop types and such they would be.

So far,I have decided that I am going to model a Long Fang with a cloak made from Green Stuff, and give him a Bow that counts as a Multi-melta. Yes I know its a bit off the wall, but I couldn't think of a different heavy weapon that suited it.That would be for Rethel the Archer, the grey haired guy with the bow.

I think that Bulvye would be good to go with a 2 handed sword or the like, having it count as a powerfist probably. Put some thing to stand in for a Storm shield I think for game purposes...That or build a Storm bolter into a bracer.

The short black haired scout type,Edgetho the Silent, would have to be a Wolf scout...I am just wondering what to give him as far as wargear goes. Possibly the Plasma Pistol and Powersword Combo.

Herger ,the blond that was allways laughing and joking, I can't decide what gear he should have.

The rest I haven't figured out what to use.

Also I am totally stumped as to what other army and model should be used for Antonio Banderas's character.

It's also been discussed as Termy models, 13 of them, so it's not new but it could be quite fun if done correctly. You did mention this was a special scenario? If you get USR choices like in kill teams keep in mind who gets what, and when, as far as the movie goes and what you can use to represent them.

I think thats a great idea! I'm going to have to watch the movie again.

And now you have me thinking: what about the movie King Arthur? The small elite band that the movie centers on could be a good team too...darn, a second movie now.

Anyway, any chance of getting the rules up here for the Brothers to view, I know that I am certainly interested

Well sniper rifles kind of suck or i would use it for him. Though I would Prefer a Lascannon,I think that having a Bow represent that would be a little bit over the top as far as counts-as.

And yeah as Soon as I get the ok of the guy who is doing this,I will post it here for you guys.

So hmm...

Long Fang with a Lascannon for Rethel.

I am not neccessarily going to have them equipped exactly as the gear they had in the movie. especially with the off the wall rules for this set up.

I love the idea of the bow being a multi-melta. Just paint little fiery runes on it. Say the Rune priests enchanted the arrows to scorch through the thickest armor, and that ability combined with a marine's massive strength would fit perfectly.

In my army, many of my meltagunners carry throwing spears engraved with runes instead of guns, partly because it fits the low-tech 13th Company and it just looks awesome! :D

Have you gotten any trouble using them in tournaments? Because as much as I like this I don't want to have things I can't use elsewhere

I just make it very clear to whoever I'm playing that my "spear-wolves" are meltagunners. I also paint "MG" next to their names on their bases.

EDIT: And people don't give me trouble for it. If anything, guys with spears stand out more than more guys with slightly different guns!

Well the guy put a damper on my fun by saying no it wouldn't work. Damn annoying it is too.

So now I am just gonna go for the cheesiest setup possible.

So far...It is looking like:

Lone Wolf,Terminator Armor,Storm Shield,Multi-melta,Power Sword. This is going to be my leader.

Long Fang with Missile Launcher. This is my heavy.

Wolf Guard with Powerfist and Bolt Pistol.

Wolf Guard with Plasma Pistol and Bolt Pistol. This is my second heavy.

Wolf Guard with Storm Bolter and Bolt Pistol.

Rhino.

this would be the starting out 200 points. Due to being able to take advantage of the multiple squads in a single rhino modification, and the fact that The Lone Wolf can never join a squad regardless,I can shoot at two different Targets from my Rhino with the two heavy weapons.

So, I like the setup thus far, just one question: why the Power Fist? Going at initiative 1 doesn't seem to be that great of an idea given the setup.

The way wounds are handled is from necromunda,so a weapon that does instant death makes it more likely that the opponent will get removed rather then just injured and on the ground.
