Murderous Hurricane Q

Stormbrow II

Recommended Posts

Murderous Hurricane in the SW FAQ says that 'a targeted unit is affected by Murderous Hurricane even if the power fails to hit or wound.'

Does that mean that if I'm out of range with the power the unit is still in Dangerous Terrain?

I cast it at unit of Land Speeders but they're 40" away. I've missed but they're still in Dangerous Terrain for next turn.

no. the unit has to be within 18" to be affected.

There is a difference between not wounding and not being in range. Not wounding means the storm didn't kill anyone with the hailstone etc, not being in range means the storm is too far away from them to worry them.

not being in range

So I miss right?

As another person said:

The key word here is target. Once I determine my target as per the los rules, I then move on to range, I automatically miss, so I don't roll the 3D6 S3 AP- shots, but the targeted unit must treat all clear terrain, as both difficult and dangerous. Clearly the idea behind the rule in the FAQ should have mentioned failed to reach, but it doesn't.

Just wondering as I have a tourney coming up and I'm wondering whether to take Jaws or this, but if this is correct it makes this spell mental.

"Q. Does Murderous Hurricane require the power

to hit or wound its target to affect them?

A. No, a targeted unit is affected by Murderous

Hurricane even if the power fails to hit or

wound."

This is the exact quote from the faq.

A unit may only be affected if it is within 18". The power is described as a psychic shooting attack and thus must have a range. If you are out of range then the power will take no effect.

The thing that gets me about this power is whether or not you are supposed to roll to hit. The codex description states "the target unit takes 3D6 strength 3 hits" This would imply no rolling to hit but i have had a hard time convincing some people of this.

As for the usefullness of the power i would defiinatley recomend it. i run either murderous hurricane or living lightning with jaws. Depends how close i wannt the priest to get.

Since the power fails automatically when found to be out of range I really cant condone the interpretation that it would still effect anything.

The winds dont penetrate armor? Cool, it still sucks to be you.

The winds dont even get to me this round? I dont really care then.

And get the Space Wolves FAQ. it will help you out alot.

Eh, no. Its whats causing the confusion in the first place.

Es grande. We have a TO looking for answers to FAQ and this came up so we figured we'd nip it in the bud before it became a problem.
