Slyen
Well for a post on what I am working on currently, this is going to leave a lot to be desired... :/ With me not knowing where my camera is it makes things even worse. But to cut to the chase, working on finishing up my selection for the DIY Chapter Swap, even though the event has ended I figure I should still finish it. Also currently working on a model to count as Vulkan but strapping him up to be an Imperial Fist. So far things are looking alright, but having trouble deciding on a head. He is meant to tie into or be a prelude my stealing Pig of Sparta's kill team campaign idea. More to follow. Dark Apostle Thirst
One of the few examples of a marine that looks good without a backpack. Very nicely done, although I would move the arm down just a little, but that's in case you make another (which I hope you do). Master Chaplain Astador
Thanks guys, backpack is PiP just didn't have it with me when he was finished. More pics soon. I did all the airbrush work for the stores Chaos army today so I'll have pics tomorrow when it dries. Dark Apostle Thirst
One of my better miniatures, I kept the greenstuffing on him to a minimum, although with some bright green paint I think I did fairly well. This next one is rather unflattering, but it's the worst example, so the rest is much better. I think the shoulderpad was fairly decent, although it would have been better if I could have seperated the eye from the eyebrow. Notice the wave/spikes coming from the top of the eyebrow. Oops. Noticed a minor painting mistake with this one... I think I may need to wash the white, but it's still one of my better models. Thanks, Thirst Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/44/#findComment-2609178 Share on other sites
Natanael
Oh, you guys are on a slippery slope ^_^ I am away for two weeks and this is a few pages back with no posts in 3 days? Not good at all. Slyen
So then... upon finding my camera I took some pictures of the Vulkan wannabe. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e348/Slyen/40k%20Stuff/SDC11428.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e348/Slyen/40k%20Stuff/SDC11427.jpg http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e348/Slyen/40k%20Stuff/SDC11430.jpg My main issue right now is what to use for a head. I was thinking about using a Min-maxi head, but then I also was looking at doing him bareheaded. Thoughts? Pig Of Sparta
Loving the LotD Sarge Astador... I actually just picked up the one with the plasma pistol and axe on ebay, I may even paint him sometime soon... Slyen, If you want to go with a bare head, you could try the 'new' masked one that comes in the SM Commander kit, or maybe one of the BA heads. As for helmets, I think you'd be fairly safe with a Max-mini head if you wanted to cover up his mug... Dark Apostle Thirst, the G/S work seems pretty good on that mini, but I would advise keeping the paint a little thinner if you can because I think you've lost some detail on the mini. I'm guessing he's a sorceror... If I'm right, I like that you've taken the time to pose him actually pointing his staff of doom as if he's casting some kind of fell power :P. As for me, well, I have an update here of my dead SH Terminator, as I've been absent from the site for a while though, I've decided to start a new thread for him here. Keep up the good work everyone :) James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/44/#findComment-2614081 Share on other sites
Natanael
Love the old school flamer on Vulcan. Brother Martemis
there's one of the max-mini heads that looks like a helmet with integrated gas mask unit. i'd use that one. Slyen
there's one of the max-mini heads that looks like a helmet with integrated gas mask unit. i'd use that one. I actually thought about using that one. That or the one that resembles (in a manner) a Mk3's helm. I went with the later, however I have since decided to alter it along with the legs. I'm going to look into finding one of the heads from the Death Company box that was a Mk 4 helm with a chalice on it. I figure if anything I can tie it into the same thoughts people have concerning the first company, using a lot of Black Templar iconography. In this case though I am thinking of using that idea but going with Soul Drinkers instead. I'm also looking at doing a leg swap from the current one and trying to go for a Mk 3 armor look for the legs. As for the back pack... I am thinking about nabbing and chopping up the one that comes with Huron Blackheart as from front shots it looks to have fuel tanks on the back. Then, provided I can get some guitar wire I plan on running it to the hand flamer. Finally, I'm debating taking the spike off the back of the spear and replacing it with an Iron Halo that comes with the Termie Chaplin, thoughts? Brother Martemis
wish i could plan like that, sounds cool, the two things that caught my eye however were the guitar wire - but thats because last time i tried using any it looked like a skipping rope. and the spear's spike being replaced with the halo. i would just remove the spike and place it at the other end of the spear (like a counter weight). and not put the halo on, i think that would end up looking somewhat cumbersome... i just tend to look at an abstract pile of bits and kind of hold bits around each other and think "that works" so from the likes of every used sprue and (soon) maxmini, i have a collection of bits, so the pile gets bigger and bigger.... but issues arise when you hold a drop pod missle system next to a terminator.... pics soon (hopefully, if this computer illiteracy dissapears -_- ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/44/#findComment-2615033 Share on other sites
Natanael
@ Martemis: That is what I do as well. Still need more bits tough :) @ Slyen: Sounds like a plan. Tough the iron halo on the spear I am not so fond of. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/44/#findComment-2615623 Share on other sites
