Something new and old

Well here is something i do not see to often at my LGS.

i got a game in against dark eldar. i've seen them played before but this is my first one on one battle.

His list was a pretty straight forward witch cult army with raiders, some lance toting warriors backed up by bikes and a proxy talos(the real one is still in the mail).

I countered him with my newly revamped panzer brigade. after loosing the ability to take my allied GKGM in (thank the new DH FAQ) my force i replaced him with an epistolary librarian in terminator armor with a storm shield. leaving me enough points to add in a land speeder storm for my scouts.

The game-

we rolled up random-

.kill points

.12" deployment

He made me go first.

I kept everything in reserve except for the 3 shooty venerable dreads, my MOTF, tactical squad and librarian.

turn 1 was lackluster for both of us, niether of us could hit, or we made our cover saves.

turn 2 he started loosing raiders but it didn't stop him from assaulting my tactical marines, i lost all but the sarge who held the squad long enough for an ironclad to come in from reserve and join the fight.

My reserves were spradic this game, getting most of my stuff in on turn 4.

I got lucky and managed to shoot the talos to death. but the ironclad who did it was taken down by a lance shot. the ironclad that had joined the combat with my tac squads held him up for most of the game, his excrutiator tried in vain to glance the dread to death. i killed most of his raiders and intercepted his second bike squad with my assault marines.

My storm zipped onto the table and nailed some walking dark eldar(i blew their raider and pinned them in previous turns) the storms heavyflamer got most of them and the scouts finsihed the squad with only 2 losses.

His warriors bunched up hiding in the trees spent an entire turn making certain the storm was dead for obvious reasons.

The game itself went all the way to turn 6. i had little left on the table.

loosing-

.both my HQs

.1 ironclad

.1 venerable dread

.land speeder storm

.tactical squad

.assault squad

KP-7

His loses included

.5 of 6 raiders

.2 witch squads

.2 bike squads

.2 bike characters

.talos

KP-12

Victory goes to me,

It was by no means an easy game, he made me work for those KPs but it was still alot of fun, and some good variety.

You know you can still use the allies rule cause the rulebook goes over the pdf.

DOnt know were I got that from but I read it on some guys blog.

That would be incorrect, i think the point that the blogger is missing is that normally the codex trumps alll, however the new PDF is the new codex not some other main rulebook and therefore it is the most current legal rules. i will miss my GKGM, but i will make do with an epistolary.

That would be the GW main webpage - its in the weekly new stuff part

The other point that seems to be causing the most confusion is whether or not the PDF versions supersede the printed versions. They don't: you should feel free to continue to use whatever resources you have available to play your games with; the PDF does not overrule or invalidate the printed Codex book.

Whats new today - June 30th titled "Tyranids & Blood Angels FAQ; Daemonhunters & Witch Hunters update; Tyranids; Brass Scorpion"

Good win against my arch-nemesis Dark Eldar. I hate those buggers, especially when I'm staring down 101 models against my 40-something. Last time we played @ 2500pts and he brought 8 Raiders, 3 Ravagers and 2x6 Jetbikes!?! I was almost toast after Turn 3, but then my Superfriends stepped up and turned it into a Draw at the end of 5.
