BlackCardinal
This story is based in the future of the current 40,000 game, how far? I haven't really decided yet but far enough for some major changes. Important changes to understand -The Crimson Fists and Iron Hands were destroyed in New Ryan City when the Word Bearers led by Kor Phaeron took advantage of another Ork Invasion -In my story Omegon the second primarch of the Alpha Legion is in command as Alpharius was killed in the fluff manner My brother was murdered by Guilliman, cast down from the pulpit of command, in the height of the heresy my brother, the other part of my very soul, had lost his head and started to kill for the gods of chaos... it is ironic that now in this end game the beginning has long since died and only the end is left. Much of my legion has fallen, either slaughtered in the endless butchery presented by the age Horus has caused or turned to the twisting maniacal whispers of power and strength presented by the dark gods that strike fear even into my advanced hearts. There is no hope for men in times like this, they most certainly will all die, all life will die at this rate. What was seen at the end of the Great Crusade that started my brother on the path to the death of the God-Emperor has lead to the death of humanity now as a whole, the great betrayal failed and now I see my own mind was clouded by the conviction and strength in my brother's words. Alpharius was sure we would win and I believed him, now I see I fought for the wrong side. I now take whatever of my legion is still loyal to the God-Emperor and forge a path to his Golden Throne where I shall kneel and ask my father for forgiveness. A paltry Six-hundred of us live, nevertheless it is enough for the task at hand. Once my father found MY legion wanting, he will not find such weakness in my sons again. We have lived on the edge of the warp and still remained loyal to the Imperium while hiding from it's vengeful grip. No more hiding my sons for we have grown weak in our stagnation, our devotion to our cause will be heard and our cries for absolution will be heard! Follow me my sons! FOR THE EMPEROR! "What do you see?" "I see the death of you my lord, I see the death of our legion." "On the surface of this dead rock?" "No my primarch, in the cold blackness of space... I see another fleet a fleet of terrible power. It wishes to destroy us, I sense they already know our purpose for leaving the warp." Omegon sighed, "Then they will have to die, it is the only way." With those words Omegon left the astropath chambers, the unordained passageways throughout the Hydra's Claw offering a grim reminder to the half primarch of the legion's shameful past. There was no honor in what they did and all the laurels awarded during the Great Crusade have since been burned, they had done nothing to deserve any honor. The last several months have been nothing but a blur of bloodshed and violence. First came the purging of the ranks, any member of the legion who was walking the path of chaos was hunted and killed. There were still many traitors out there having long since formed or joined their own warbands or simply hiding but such base heretics were not of Omegon's concern at the moment. Heretics, traitors, Omegon knew quite well that while he was using such terms for those who did not join him here, somewhere, someone else was speaking in hushed tones applying the same brands to his own legion. Omegon looked up to find himself in the observatory, one deck he found himself in more than any other during these dark times. "There will be no mercy for us, you understand this don't you?" Omegon did not turn around did not even even respond, there was only one person on the ship who would speak to him in such a manner and he would explain his purpose on his own without prompting. "The Emperor will have us all burned for what we have done. There is no forgiveness in the stars anymore. Only death." Omegon turned where he stood and looked into the eyes of the speaker. "Do you despise the Emperor Captain? Do you question that we are taking the correct path in redeeming ourselves?" The captain did not even shudder at the power in Omegon's voice, it used to be that a primarch's very presence in a room would set knees to the floor and would shut eyelids. Omegon also realized that he was a far shadow from what he used to be, almost as if when Alpharius died that part of him that made him a true primarch had died as well. "No my beloved primarch, I do not question you, I only wonder why you would set us on a path that you know leads to death for the remnants of our legion. Redemption would only be obtained through our death. Even then I don't believe we would be forgiven. I know the path we walk is the right one, but why be right when we do not live to see it?" The captain could be described in one word, Alpharius. Before the heresy all members of the legion emulated Alpharius in appearance, true Omegon and Alpharius were twins and so looked exactly the same, but officially they were to all look like Alpharius, but Captain Gourten looked more like his late brother than any other member of the legion. It might have been this reason alone that Gourten was adviser to the primarch's remaining half. "I find it amusing Lazerous that even after all these years you still follow the philosophical past of our legion, you are always analyzing everything and finding the other meanings, what is death? Death is but a state of matter, when the flesh dies the soul rests at the Emperor's side so in a sense we do live to see what our holy sacrifice starts. I swear you never left the Great Crusade, still reading old manuscripts, you are almost more of Iterator than a warrior." "It was the way of our legion, my lord, to be learned in philosophy and the arts of the mind. I must say it was a doctrine I stuck to well." Omegon smiled and let out a small laugh, the first in many months. "Lazerous, Alpharius might be dead but as long as you survive his teachings will never die. Grow a personality you diplomat. It was the Captains turn to smile "My lord your reaction tells me that your own personality must be dead should my lack thereof amuse you enough to make you laugh." Omegon thought about this for a moment and then replied, "Then we are both damned to be boring once we make it out of this mess." Omegon turned to look out the window again, Gourten stepped up to join his primarch. The pair spent several long minutes staring into the void before either one spoke. "Lazerous, the astropath says we are going to die in this void. He told me he sensed another fleet approaching, a fleet that knows what we are planning." "Omegon I say this as a friend, we will kill anyone who gets in our way, we will bring their blood as a sacrifice to the God-Emperor's golden throne and we will lay their bodies at the tip of his boot. Besides you can't trust an astropath that was taken from a dying merchant vessel." Omegon continued to stare into the stars beyond the window, hoping to loose himself in the voids intensity. He knew Lazerous well and knew that captain was daunted by the task ahead and felt the same sense of danger at the astropath's message. Both Lazerous and Omegon knew that that the coming battles could very well be their last. That is the end of part one for now I suppose. I will add on to this later and I hope everyone enjoys what I have written so far. I know there is no fighting in it right now but there will be. Please look back for the rest of the story! Bjorn Firewalker
A good start. I'd like a flashback to show WHAT HAPPENED to make Omegon rethink his loyalties. As for Alpharius' death, the fact Omegon is his identical twin, and the Legion's habit of cosmetically altering its members to resemble their Primarch, could render it impossible for Guilliman to tell who he killed- unless the Primarch had a distinct, psychic "presence" the others lack. PS. Reformat the post and add spaces between each paragraph. HTML can't display indentation.
