Saint Smiley
Ok, after reading the new'ish codex, and checking out the pictures at the back, the honner guard models look like a cross between the new Sanguinary Guard kit and the current SM command squad kit. Now I dont think think they are a kit bash from the Sanguinary Guard models becuase their abdominal armour plates are much lower and they have an eagle on the breast plate, leading me to think that these are going to be part of a second wave release. Has anybody heard anything about this or I am not looking at the pictures corrcetly (To be fair I dont yet have the SG kit). Anyways I'm trying to way up if it's worth waiting for a new release or create my own, so any help would be much welcome. Mortare
The honour guard figures in the codex were done years ago and are usually featured in the old codex (inc pdf) as Dante's bodyguard. The champion has been redone to have the death company power sword, but other than that they are just standard marines with the 'toned' armour painted on rather than sculpted Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205761-honner-guard-in-codex/#findComment-2454491 Share on other sites

And while I'm on the subject it bothers me that they're passing off Dante's old honor guard as the way all HG look. I've got 2 squads of red & gold and I'm leaving them that way (grumble grumble...) Papa
Gold heads and red everything else here aas well. But to make HG stand apart from veterens I paint the edgeing on the shoulder plates gold as well. I'm also not keen to repaint all over again. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205761-honner-guard-in-codex/#findComment-2454547 Share on other sites

I paint my Honor Guards AND my Veterans with gold helmets, gold shoulder trims. Allows me to use the same models/arms in different lists. I plan to make only their jump packs different and magnetize them in case I really need to differentiate them. Chaplain Hiltraud
Don't quote me on this, but wasn't there an Honour Guard boxed set at one stage? Or am I just tripping? On a side note, the sculpting of 'abs' onto armour isn't that difficult, I have done a few for my SP and I'm in the proccess of scrath building my very own HG...Apart from being easy, it also looks good! I am by no means a great or master sculptor but I can post a step by step if anyone's interested? Came with a Standard Bearer, Techmarine (later renamed Tech Adept), Sanguinary Priest, a guy with a plasma gun and something else. Redo
On page 12 of the old 3rd Edition Codex it states that Honour Guard have a Black Skull emblem in place of their company badge. So according to this Honour Guard would have Gold Helmets and a Black Skull company badge, whereas Veteran should have a Gold Helmet and a White Skull company badge. (I painted mine silver as I like the metallic look.) GW sells skull emblem shoulder pads too. Code 187
Stuck with the old 3rd ed painting guide. Gold helmets for HG with red armour. I think the all-gold body is a bit excessive. My VAS/VV are sticking with red helmets and the Vet shoulder pads, plus a bit of a kitbash from the DC/SG boxes to make them look special.
